When Will the TX CHL Restrictions End???

#1

Post by PUCKER »

**Mods - you may decide to move this to the Politics forum, your call, of course :tiphat: **

Enough is enough! After today's incident at UT, isn't it ABOUT TIME that the restrictions on TX CHL'ers be lifted/done away with?? Even Gov. Rick Perry is on record stating this. Gun free zones are a criminal's dream, today proved that (and it's been *unfortunately* proved many times over).

So, WHY the restrictions? Were they put in to appease certain folks who would've voted against TX CHL in the first place?

WHAT to do about removing them?

Campus carry is on the agenda for 2011. Write to your state representative and to the governor. And vote.

The people who banned CHL in schools, sports, etc. want disarmed victims. That's why they passed the law. They couldn't block CHL completely so they limit the places where people can legally defend themselves from crazies, terrorists and criminals.

They're probably celebrating the UT shooting in private because it's exactly what they want.

IMO, I believe that is correct. It's boils down to negotiating. They give a little, we give a little.
We are making headway though. Things have improved since the inception of CHL.

Campus carry would be great, but I bet that there a much large number of people, such as myself, employed by large corporations that cannot carry on any work day without risking our livelihood and that of our families. This is because we cannot store our legal firearms on company property while at work without risking dismissal. While my workplace is controlled and fairly safe, my routes to and from work and places that I may need to stop along the way may not be. To me, this is the most onerous restriction, I have a CHL that is essentially useless 5 days out of 7 - this must be corrected.

Senator Robert Duncan would not let the Campus Carry bill out of his committee in 2009 if I remember correctly. The Democrats blocked any real reform of CHL. The State refuses to give up its power to control "the wearing of arms". Big Money controls our laws and denies us our rights. And more and more innocent people die every day because of it. Today it is at UT. When will it be a High School ball game or an elementary Christmas play? How long will it be before the drug cartels take over completely and parts of Texas looks like Mexico today? Is the TSRA or NRA or GOA or whatever group going to be taking credit for those things happening? Nothing will guarantee these things won't happen. Doing nothing will guarantee things like this WILL happen. Who knows what will happen between now and 2011? What about between 2011 and 2013 or 2015?

:iagree:

The above... tops my list as well. Though it does not affect me personally....it does hinder several family members and many good friends.

I just hope we (gun owners) have better success than last year with legislation. I am deeply disappointed in last years results (or lack of).

After the shooting at UT yesterday, Mark Davis has seen the light and is now loudly advocating for campus carry. It's got some visibility (or at least a guy with a microphone) now.

His show today should be interesting. His promos all day yesterday and this morning are all about campus carry.

Perhaps some important representatives should be notified. Charles, other TSRA folks, etc.

That way They can possibly be on the show and present some Facts to people interested, rather than have people speculate over things they don't know anything about.

I fully Expect our DFW Members to do their best to make sure that any Myths or Misconceptions voiced on the show, either by the host, or possible callers, get properly debunked by Facts. :thumbs2:
You can do this guys. Get on those phones!

In Fact, I'm going to start a new Topic about this specifically :thumbs2:

They're not gun free zones - today should have clearly proven that, if other incidents haven't. They are victim zones. Start calling them what they are.
