You'd think they had opened the store up in San Francisco right next to Harvey Milk's tomb.

its kinda like the arms room that was in league city next to the day care. most gun places are not like beacons of light drawing everyone in.

I'm in that area several times a week. Babick is just stirring a pot that I don't think will ever boil. BTW, we never hear of any other neighbors. Sounds like Babick is on his own....nobody else probably cares.
The mayor should keep his personal comments just that - personal.
Isn't he supposed to represent the entire city, not just 1 person?
The Mayor needs to remember:
-Its a business.
-It generates income
-It generates tax revenue
-It has generated at least 2 jobs (the owners)
-It will support other jobs at the manufacturing facilities who supply products.
-It supports the 2nd Amendment
AND it sold a few more newspapers (though the Dallas Snooze really don't impress me)
With all this bruhaha, I better do the smart thing and check this out.
Who knows, maybe I'll have a pizza, get my nails done and have some Russian Tea while I'm there?
Everybody wins.

A buddy of mine and his wife just bought a house a few blocks from there, went over and visited them this past Sunday. As luck would have it we went and picked up pizza from Little Ceaser's...same parking lot as Big Slim's. I remember thinking to myself how desolate the mini-mall looked. You'd think that ANY business would be welcomed with open arms there!

This sounds like just another politician posturing to stir up any gullible bed wetting hoplophobes in the community and reminding them that he's on board with the democratic socialists' agenda to oppose, impede, and eventually end ownership of firearms by citizens.
The mayor's staff would do well to remind him that he's not in Chicago, there aren't a lot of his target audience in Carrollton, and his take on this is not a real popular position in Texas.
I think most of the good folks around here will have enough good common sense to simply ignore him - once they finish yawning.

Maybe the HOA would rather have a 'massage parlor.'

I wonder if the same group of people that are complaining have checked into the backgrounds of all new business owners in the area. I venture to say that owners of a gun shop would have to be squeaky clean to be able to open at all.

Re: HOA has a problem with new gun shop in Carrollton
I dropped by this place this evening. Nice guys!
Store is kind of small, but prices are pretty good.
They are currently running a special where they will beat any price for a gun or do their end of the FFL for free. Check them out and maybe buy a box of ammo in support.

That is the problem with most HOAs. It isn't the group as a whole but one or two folks who either don't have their own life or are just desperate to run everyone elses.tallmike wrote:It doesnt sound like an HOA complaining, or even a group - just 1 idiot.

Re: HOA has a problem with new gun shop in Carrollton
Maybe the HOA would buy the guys lease out and he could move his shop down the road to Farmers Branch where it's closer to my office. Guess I will have to make a run up there and check them out and buy a few boxes of ammo and check out their rifle selection.

I've got to warn everyone... I live in Mesquite and I own a shovel... In fact, I have SEVERAL shovels... and a couple rakes... I even have an AXE... and a hatchet... but I have NEVER owned a sledge hammer... I refuse to have one of "those things" in my home or anywhere near my family...
There... I've said it and I'm glad that everyone knows........
