Yes it did thank you so muchinfoman wrote:they mail to the address on your application. also, keep in mind the post office does NOT foward state mail. so, as long as someone is checking the mail at your old address you'll be fine. CHL and DL are not connected when it comes to address changes. Hope this helps.

Re: June 2010 applications
Well all my stuffs green now, manufacture and shipping still pending, this is a pretty arduous process. In washington state(left wing whacko capital of the world), you go to your local sheriffs office on specified days, bring birth certificate, DL, SS card and whatnot, they print you, photo you and run your background check all in one 4 hour session and you leave with plastic in hand... So it CAN be done, they just dont want to invest the money into the infrastructure to make it happen. Plus the CHL's here are all pretty whereas up there its just a laminated piece of cardboard.

Re: June 2010 applications
Well the wally walk didn't go as I hoped. I kept asking my wife "can you see it." I was so nervous that I kept thinking everyone can see it. Hopefully I will get comfortable with my concealed weapon.

Re: June 2010 applications
I was born and raised around guns, I will say to those of you that are nervous about carrying your gun that you are still preoccupied with the notion that theres somthing mystical or magical about guns or theres somthing taboo about owning/carrying them. The point in fact is this, it is nothing more than another tool like a pocket knife or a cellular phone, that gun is a worthless hunk of metal untill you decide otherwise, so while youre carrying it, its just like adding another cell phone to your belt. No, no one knows you have it, in fact, people just assume you dont because most people dont carry guns, not to mention that people generally wont give it enough thought to even question whether or not you have a gun(the though just never really comes to mind) unless youre doing somthing to arouse suspision, in which case you nullify the purpose of concealed carry. Relax, its just another cell phone.

Not necessarily. I have been around guns all my life, too, but it was always away from people who didn't have and didn't like guns. I don't believe that there is anything magical about guns at all. I do know, however, that there are those in our society, even in Texas, who are so rabid anti-gun that if they ever did see even part of one, they would go into a full panic attack. If there needs to be evidence of that, the Eric Scott situation in Las Vegas is a reminder. Someone saw his gun and overreacted, or at least it appears that way from the reports that have been available so far.
No, for me it is all about whether the concealment works or not. Even the old hands at it have told me that they "learned" how not to reach high with their strong side. I really do believe that there is some learning and acclimation involved. I have a full sized Ford van and I think I've learned how to get in and out without letting the seat pull my shirt up in the back. I agree that printing is not a concern but actual disclosure is. Only today did I feel comfortable washing the windshield of the van while I was getting gas. I've figured out how to get to the center of the windshield with the squeege without getting my shirt up above my belt line. I was hunting for something and ended up doing at double Wally Walk (two different stores) this past Monday - in the middle of 100s of parents and kids. I'm comfortable walking but I was more than a little nervous with the number of people in such close quarters to me. Others have been reported being bumped and not detected but I'm not quite ready for that just yet. Yes, it is a mental thing for me I can just imagine junior bumping into me and asking his mother "does he have a gun?" Kids are not always as oblivious to things as their parents.
I'm sure that, over time, I'll not worry any more. Until then, there will be extra little tug on my shirt tail if I make an unusual move with my upper body. I'm not nervous, just cautious. There is a difference between those two.

Re: June 2010 applications
I have been thinking about doing this. I am going to call them tomorrow but I already know that it is not going to help me any. I just don't want to ruffle any feathers. I don't want to make anyone mad over there at the DPS, but this is getting ridiculous 60 plus days when others here that have applied later than me have not had to wait more than 30 days or so. What do you guys think? I am really interested in your input on this.baldeagle wrote:Well, I got fed up with waiting, so I went to the Governor's website and filled out a form to request help. The next day I received a copy of a letter sent to the head of the DPS asking them to investigate. Two business days later DPS called me (today) and said that my background check had cleared and I should have my CHL in hand in ten days. She gave me her name and asked me to please call her if I did not receive it within ten days.Texasfinest wrote:I think that makes them mad and they go even slower!TexasFTW wrote:I'm also still here waiting. I guess I'll call them again in a few weeks but I'm not sure that has any effect on the speed on the background check.
So complaining to the right office got me action immediately.

Re: June 2010 applications
I totally agree with you. After seeing that some people have waited 100 days, and others only just more than 3 weeks...
It seems that there is absolutely no rhyme or reason in how they process the apps. It is most definitely not on a first come first served basis. What i looks like is that they work from the TOP of the pile and whittle it down. The more that pile up on top, the further away the people's apps on bottom get... Just my $0.02
