Re: ammo on sale
I just ordered some from Midway yesterday, it was all in stock and still is. I've been seeing it more and more locally, but all I really needed was a few more SD rounds.

Re: ammo on sale
Was near Cabela's north of Ft. Worth today - made a quick stop. Those folks are loaded up with all types, sizes, and flavors of ammo - probably had 25 different 9mm.
I picked up boxes of Fiocchi, 115 gr, FMJ/box of 50 on sale for $11.88 (all the way from Italy - may check the box again to see that it wasn't Italy, TX!). Also, the Sellier & Bellot "Police", 9mm 124 gr, FMJ from the Czech Republic on sale for $10.99/box of 50 rds.
Due to the shortages over the past 1-1/2 years, I hadn't found or tried these brands - Will give them a chance.
They also had CORBON, Hornady, Speer, and other hard to find ( at least for me). My usual stops are WalMart and Academy!

Re: ammo on sale
Found this at the Walmart in Grapevine yesterday (July 15):
Remington 9mm 115 gr FMJ 250 round "mega pack" for $51.97 at Walmart. Of course, it was the last one. I've always been pleased with this ammo, no issues with it. It feeds good even with my full-auto. Basically, it's $10.40 per box of 50, which is a good deal for good target ammo. You can get the cheap stuff for about the same price (Monarch, etc) but I'd rather shoot this. As an aside, I saw the same mega pack at the Grapevine Academy store a few days ago for around $58, if not a little higher. There were a few of the mega packs there.

Re: ammo on sale
Still haven't made it to the range test this ammo. Anyone know the significance of 'Police' on the box? It does not appear to be +P ? Guess, just something that the marketing department thought up!Sasnakra wrote:Was near Cabela's north of Ft. Worth today - made a quick stop. You can say that again!USA1 wrote:Its true.boomerang wrote:Sad the prices we consider on sale now.
Go back and read the first page or two of this thread , those were "sale" prices .
This thread should be changed to..Ammo for sale.

Re: ammo on sale
I had an order into Midway for almost 2 years for Magtech .380, it finally came in last week and the irony is I have enough now and sold it to friends.

Re: ammo on sale
I admit, I did not read all 112 pages of this post, but have you guys ever ordered from Ammoman.com? Decent stock, decent prices and free shipping.

Re: ammo on sale
Date and time of sighting: 7/28/10, Wed, 1010 AM.
Location: Wal-Mart, FM3040/Hebron Parkway, Lewisville, Denton County.
Unfortunately I did not have anything to write on when I checked out
the ammo cabinet at this site since they had some rather unusual ammo.
First the regular pistol ammo: .25, .32, .38 Special +p (100 round box, one
of these), loads of 9mm, loads of .40, and one box of WWB .45 FMJ.
Now the unusual ammo:
.45 Colt LRN (Lead Round Nose), 255 grains, about 12 boxes.
Is this ammo used in cowboy guns like Ruger Vaqueros, or in what?
For an unusual round, it was surprising to see a dozen boxes!
Black boxes (Winchester? Remington?) of JHP's, 50 per box, in
9MM, .40, and 230 grain .45. Prices seemed too low to be JHP's
but whatever the price was they had a lot of SD in the 3 main calibers.
.380 - As usual, nada.

Re: ammo on sale
Yes, that's a pretty basic plinking/practice round for .45colt wheelguns and leverguns. I guess you could also carry it in your taurus judge but I would suggest JHP's.surprise_i'm_armed wrote: Now the unusual ammo:

That stuff is probably the 20rd (possibly 25rds?)boxes of Winchester PDX1 SD ammo. IIRC it's a black box with some foil highlights(gold or silver). The reviews I have read have shown good results of it's bonded bullets in both penetration and expansion. Walmart has been carrying them for quite some time now.surprise_i'm_armed wrote: Black boxes (Winchester? Remington?) of JHP's, 50 per box, in

Re: ammo on sale
You may be correct about the black boxes of JHP's
being only 20 rounds. Sometimes ammo boxes don't
have the round count in an easily seen place.
And if I don't have notepaper with me, all bets are off
on this reporter's accuracy. :-)

Re: ammo on sale
That stuff is actually pretty good SD ammo, especially for the price. I was checking some penetration and expansion tests done with it awhile back. When compared to the big name high $$ stuff it still performed great. The expansion wasn't as consistent as some of the others but it is no less deadly and there was no fragmentation.glbedd53 wrote:50 rd boxes of .45 230 gr jhp at Walmart for $19.97
Since we are sharing pics, here is one of the boxes from the last groupbuy I did(I was excited and had to get a pic). Nothing like 1250rds of premium SD ammo. HST's, Rangers and Gold Dot's Oh my!
Re: ammo on sale
We are going to west Texas next month and I just wanted an extra box of something better than FMJs. Also I've shot a lot of these and never had a problem with them.

Never hurts to have some extra JHP's stored away...especially for that price.

Re: ammo on sale
I stopped over to "Cleaner Than Dirt" after I got off work today. And I went gaaa gaaaaa at the quantities of ammo they had. I've never seen so much. All calibers, varied brands. No shortage on ammo there
As I was only focusing on .380 that's really all I looked at: 14 different brands of .380 alone. Here's a sampling:
WWB 50 count; 95gr FMJ: $21.95
Fiocchi 95gr XJHP: $29.97
Remington 100 count; 88 gr, FMJ: $42.95
Federal Premium Hydra-Shok JHP, 90 gr.; $22.97(didn't get count...I think a 20 count box)
Winchester Bonded PDX1, 95gr, 25 count:$19.97
Remington Golden Sabre; 102 gr, JHP, 25 count: $21.97
The prices weren't all that great, but they had plenty.
I picked up a box of the Win.PDX1 ammo.
First time I've ever been in there. I'm working about a mile away from them this week & had to go in. Glad I did.
