Jesus said, "And the one who has no sword must sell his cloak and buy one." (Luke 22:36 NET) Also, Jesus said, "When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own homestead, his possessions are undisturbed"(Luke 11:21 NAS)

Because of the qualities of leather, I'm not sure it's possible to make it reversible and still have the stiffness and support of a good gun belt.terryg wrote:So I just couldn't figure out how a 'Gun Belt' could make that much of a difference. I saw people say they were thicker - but I was just thinking wider (or taller as worn). So I've got a nice regular but wide (1 1/2") belt and I couldn't figure our how a wide belt that was branded 'gun belt' could make any difference.
So I just finally looked at a 'gun belt' at Collectors and now it all makes since. Thicker means THICKER. That thing is seriously thick - not just wider. Its like a steel band! Now I get it ...
But those suckers were $100+ each. I'm sure there are some not quite so pricey. Does any one know if there are any reversible (brown/black) gun belts out there?

The Liger gun belts from Maxpedition are very supportive, durable, look good, and are significantly less costly than the ones you cited here. They're worth a look. I'm very happy with mine, which I use for dress or casual wear when a less "tactical" look is required.jester wrote:Because of the qualities of leather, I'm not sure it's possible to make it reversible and still have the stiffness and support of a good gun belt.terryg wrote:So I just couldn't figure out how a 'Gun Belt' could make that much of a difference. Probably so. I was also thinking that making the buckle reversible could weaken the overall design.jester wrote:Because of the qualities of leather, I'm not sure it's possible to make it reversible and still have the stiffness and support of a good gun belt.terryg wrote:So I just couldn't figure out how a 'Gun Belt' could make that much of a difference. Prodefense has 5.11 and Blackhawk. I got the Blackhawk I think it was about $40. It works great.

I think I just missed this item when I tried a few days ago. I clicked 'Add to Cart' but it gave some kind of error. I checked again today and the item available anymore. I should have tried when you first posted the link.dave_in_austin wrote:You might take a look at http://www.graveyardmall.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I got some 5.11 tactical series belts from them last year for $2.99 each. They have limited colors and sizes, but you get a large one and butcher it down to fit. I am really pleased with what I got and it makes a big difference in carry comfort. I think that what I bought were at http://www.graveyardmall.com/110belttanxxl.html. Even if it does not work out for you, there is not much risk in the purchase with the $2.99 price. I do not recall, but I think shipping came to about $10 for six belts.

You might keep checking every few weeks. The inventory seems to come and go and come some more.

I got a Comp-Tac belt a few years ago. It made quite a difference! It keeps stuff much steadier and more secure.Deepsix wrote:I just got a nice one from Comp-Tac, ... Great for hanging a pistol on though

Re: Ohhhh - a Gun Belt - Now I get it!!!!
I thought the very same thing! I did some research and bought a Crossbreed holster and carried with a regular dress belt for couple of weeks. I was young and stupid back then... (3 months ago) I went with Crossbreed's gun belt because I wanted to add their "V-Clips" and velcro on the inside of the belt. I do not have the problem of the gun pulling my pants down anymore. Although I need to buy some new pants because I gained some newlywed weight a couple years ago, there just ain't much room for me plus the gun.terryg wrote:So I just couldn't figure out how a 'Gun Belt' could make that much of a difference.

I have been using the Liger gun belts for several years. I use them as everyday dress belts and all, been very happy with them. I can put a pistol, pistol double mag pouch two AR mag pouches and wear them for 4 day classes and been completely happy with them. Great piece of gear and so far 4 years, the durability has been perfect.

Excaliber wrote:That is my favorite belt for casual wear too. It's top quality, reasonably priced, durable, and supports gun / holster / mag pouches etc. just fine. The buckle design and hook and loop fastener on the free end makes it infinitely adjustable within its size range too.lkd wrote:The Annoyed Man wrote: I also use a Wilderness Tactical Instructor's belt which cost $39.99, and it is very rugged. In fact, it's a little bit stiffer than my leather gun belt. It works real well.
What's not to like?
Right there with you guys. That is my casual belt as well, even with the cargo shorts.
