Yup, that is the first thing they do, and there is no waiting period for that.
Once they have your money, they can take as much time as they want. I wish I could tell you the wait get's easier, but it doesn't.

Your not in the system yet. If you try more than once within a several hour span, this will happen. It will reset in about 24 hours, so just wait 24 hours before you try again. Just check the site once a day till you are in the system, to avoid this. After you are in the system, you can check as often as you like. It will take between 2 and 3 weeks from the time you mailed to get into the system.

I took my class 7/17, mailed the packet in 7/19, they signed for the packet 7/21, and cashed the check 7/27. I havent heard anything else. What information do you use to log in online to check and see the status? On the site, they had a place for new applicants (assuming that is for applying online, not pen and paper applications) and for returning members, but I saw nowhere to register.

You don't need to register just click on Login for returning users and enter your DL#, SS#, and birthdate.

Hello all.. starting to get that itch but trying to remain patient.. i finally have an online status now so at least I know its getting processed... here is my timeline:

7/10/10 - Completed class, fingerprints, photos, and paperwork

7/13/10 - Mailed all documents and the payment to the DPS

7/30/10 - Fingerprints: Under Review
Background Check: Under Review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review

Fingerprints now complete 7-30-2010. Just waiting for background check to finish.
