so·cial·ism
   /ˈsoʊʃəˌlɪzəm/ [soh-shuh-liz-uhm]
–noun
1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole.
2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory.
3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles.
1) GM and Chrysler are now owned by the state
2) Parts of the financial system are now owned by the state
3) The healthcare system is partially owned by the state and about to be wholly owned by the state
4) The retirement system is partially owned by the state and there are proposals to confiscate 401Ks and defined benefit pension plans and put all that money into a government-run retirement system.
5) If cap and trade passes they will own energy production

Yup, Obama is a socialist. Raised, taught, nurtured and educated by socialists and communists.

The America that we "know" is almost gone, replaced by a government that rules our lives so completely that they dictate what toilet you will buy, what lights you can use, what kinds of cars you will drive, where you can and can't smoke, whether or not you must wear a seatbelt while driving, what sort of fuels you're allowed to use, etc., etc., etc. A state that confiscates the fruits of your labor at an alarming rate and is soon to confiscate even more.
This is just another nasty-phase in the life-cycle of America. History really is cyclic. The public forgets about things that were considered idiotic or ridiculous a few generations ago, lets the politicians repackage and market it to us again and wakes up when reality hits them in the face.
I plan on voting. No need for revolution or assassination. Just need to vote all these folks that have figured out how we should live out of office and get in a new breed for a while. Than the cycle will start again.

Yup, yup. Well put Purplehood. I totally agree. Like in a Grandfather clock, the political pendulum swings to the left then swings to the right. At election time it will start swinging back to the right again.

The way we change things is at the ballot box. And we will.

That's one of the four boxes for political change. I agree we should try that in November before jumping to the final box.
This will only hurt a little. What comes next, more so.

This is how I've always seen that quote:
We have four boxes with which to defend our freedom: the soap box, the
ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box.
