UTAH CHL Class/Ohio CHL

You are exactly correct, thank you! The post has been edited. My issue here is that this one individual put money before common sense. Why would one certify an individual to carry a firearm without the benefit of demonstrating the fact that they can in fact safely use a firearm.

Please reconsider this plan, unless your state rep. already votes "anti-gun" anyway. Otherwise, it will have cause him/her significant problems.Starvin wrote:I will be contacting my state rep to introduce legislation that would require that one must teach the TX class before the Utah class or hold a valid TX CHL before taking the Utah class.
This issue is better handled in the market place, on gun boards, and on an instructor-to-instructor basis. I have posted my concerns about the "Utah problem" several times I am considering asking Texas-based Utah CFP Instructors to meet in person and/or by teleconference to discuss the growing concern in Austin and among Texas CHL Instructors and how we can address this issue on a professional basis without government intervention. We should try to police ourselves before asking the Texas Legislature to do so.

Thank you, sir!The Annoyed Man wrote:Did you see THIS THREAD? Your wish is my command.RHENRIKSEN wrote:I'd also be interested in picking up the Utah CHL (and I *do* already have my Texas CHL). Hope Charles' announcement gets posted in the Texas CHL board so I won't miss it - I rarely check 100% of the boards on the forum. Missed the annual PSC event registration because of that :-(
I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

I agree with Charles let the market place rule. There are over 400,000 active Texas license. A few Utah permits should not be a problem. A good percentage of the Texans taking the Utah course either have a Texas concealed handgun license or get one soon after getting their Utah firearm permit. The more pro gun Texans we have the better.

Re: UTAH CHL Class/Ohio CHL
This topic made me start thinking (I do it occasionally), so I sent the following to the State of Utah:
The response was as follows:Is a Utah non-resident CFP in any way dependent on having a valid CHL/CFP in another state?
If your TX CHL is suspended in TX pending investigation, is your UT CFP still valid in TX
I was just being nosey...No. You do not have to have a cfp from your state or any other state. It does not matter whether you have one or not, from another state,to qualify for a Utah CFP.Thank you
