Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry
I saw that model in the gun shop the other day. Sweet gun, but they were very proud of it.
I was impressed with the feel of the gun and it is about the best gun I have come across in the .380 caliber...but I just just couldn't see myself paying out that much for a .380. I actually contemplated trading the good lady's Elsie in for it, but she wasn't having any of it.

Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry
Hey, do me a favor when you shoot that P238, and report back. One of the things that have kept me away from it is the fact that the hammer WILL fall from the 1/4 cocked position if the trigger is pressed with the safety ON. I know that in true 1911 style you will probably carry "cocked and locked," but unlike a true 1911 the Sig and it's predecessor, the Colt Mustang, will allow the safety to be On in that position. I do not know if the hammer will fall with enough force to fire the weapon, but it concerned me enough to avoid it until I knew for sure. I'd sure like to know. Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry
Having been bit by the 1911 bug, I made my first 1911 purchase. I did a lot of research and found a solid 1911 in my price range...the Rock Island 1911. I already purchased a kholster and was wearing it when I went to the gun show in ft worth today (yes, I was that prepared ).
The first mod will be to change the beavertail on it and possibly upgrade the sites....but I do want to get some grim reaper grips for it.

Congrats! I have one just like it and have loved mine so far. Its ate everything I put through it...haven't managed to let the hammer bite me, even with the old style grip safety. Sights do need to be upgraded though.dewayneward wrote:Having been bit by the 1911 bug, I made my first 1911 purchase. Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry
any advice on locating 1911 parts cheaply? I figure there are places with good supplies. I was checking out a crimson trace and the laser sights are almost as much as the gun!?!?!?!?! I do want to change the sights out (if I dont get the laser) and hope that wont be too hard...as well as the beavertail.
I brought 2 friends with me and now they want 1. That bug just keeps biting people :-)

Don't take this the wrong way, as everyone has the right to have a gun they like, but those "grim reaper grips" won't win you any "Good Guy" awards from a Grand Jury in the event you actually have to use it, IMHO.

Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry
I posted this pic in my "Kirkpatrick Gun Leather" thread, but this S&W M&P 45 recently entered my carry rotation...
I have to say, this pistol carries very well for a full sized .45 ACP pistol. It is not as slim as a 1911, but it is nearly as slim, and the interchangeable palm swells that come with the gun mean that I can make it fit my hand very well — unlike some other double stack .45s. The other thing I like about the M&P is that it is fully ambidextrous (I carry and shoot from the "sinister" side). It has an ambidextrous frame mounted safety, a reversible magazine release button, and an ambidextrous slide release lever. The only thing not ambidextrous on it is the take-down lever on the left side of the frame, but that doesn't really matter to me from the standpoint of carrying and shooting it. I also have a 5" Springfield Loaded which I also carry and like very much (picture below), but it weighs significantly more than the M&P, and the M&P holds 10+1 rounds to the Springfield's 8+1. So as much as I am a 1911 guy to the bone, I have to say that I am happy with the purchase of this M&P and have had no trouble integrating it into my carry routine.

We seem to have a few excellent photographers as members of the forum. In another thread someone was posting some truly awesome pictures of their hunting hound.Charles L. Cotton wrote:Yes it is and you are a very good photographer.LarryH wrote:good-looking gun, Bulldog.

I hear that, what do you shoot with? I'm just going to leave that as ambiguous as it sounds. I just got a Canon Rebel T1i but haven't given my guns a proper shooting themselves.Texas Bulldog wrote:Thanks guys

The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it to be always kept alive. It will often be exercised when wrong, but better so than not to be exercised at all. I like a little rebellion now and then. It is like a storm in the atmosphere. -Thomas Jefferson
