Spotting A Hidden Handgun

What do yall think about this graphic? Just found this while cruising around the web. Eh? This is why you need a good holster. I have an XD and had some issues finding the "right" holster, but was worth keeping a look out for one for over a month. I absolutely love the shoulder harnesses but as we all know you don't get too many chances to wear a jacket often.

It's been posted before, but it's worth being reminded of from time to time - from two perspectives.

As a concealed carry licensee, we should all seek to eliminate or minimize these traits that could reveal our identities to an astute observer. We should also be aware of these traits in others as we keep our heads on a swivel and scan our surroundings.

Thanks for posting! I'm sure a good number of people haven't seen this yet.

I just wore my first Hawaiian style shirt this weekend after having my CHL for 6 months. It is also the first time I felt like people might suspect I was carrying. :totap:

I usually where shorts with a t-shirt or golf shirt tucked in. I where a Comp-Tac IWB tuckable holster over my Glock and you cannot tell except for the 2 small belt clips. :thumbs2:

I was spotted while visiting the Alamo. I was inside the main entrance and a ranger asked me if I had a weapon. I know I looked around for a sign before entering and thought maybe I had missed it. So I asked if it was not allowed, he said it was ok if I had a license and that he had to ask. He also said he has been in the business a long time and could notice. I showed my license and he said have a nice day. Made me concious all day that someone else may notice.

The BIG question is, were you wearing an outlandish Hawiaan shirt? Dead giveaway.

I agree that a good holster would pretty much eliminate all of the supposed "tells" on this chart, other than the holster bulge example. I admit that there are some things I do differently while I'm carrying than I do when I'm not. Biggest example is reaching for something on a high shelf. I typically reach for things with my right (weapon) hand, but while carrying I use my left (non-weapon) hand. Also when crouching down to pick up something, I go down to one knee, keeping my torso straight, as opposed to bending at the waist when I'm not carrying. If I see another person doing things like this, I suspect a fellow CHL. :tiphat:

sjfcontrol, I believe it was because he was on the job for many years and can tell when someone is carrying. Looking in a mirror I wasnt obvious. I carry a full size 1911 and a loose shirt.
