So far, I haven't SEEN a "close to" PC30.06 sign - they've either been fully compliant (as far as I could tell) or obviously NON-compliant, like typewritten on a half-sheet of notebook paper.
If I saw a sign that was correct except for something like a missing comma or letters that are 0.005" too short, I'd avoid entering.

So in general that means:
- 30.06 signs that are exactly as described in the statute
- 51% signs that are posted in a location where TABC has determined that 51% of the gross sales are from sale of alcohol for on premises consumption.
Also, won't carry in places where it is illegal under Texas or Federal law, regardless of whether they have a sign.

My signature line says it all. If it is legal I am armed. If not legal I obey the law. Either dont go or leave it in the truck.
Carry 24-7 or guess right.

Then how do you get gas? Every gas station that I go to has a gun busters sign on the door.karder wrote:I will turn around at a gunbusters sign. Plano Independent School District has every school parking lot posted with "close" signs. Contact with PISD indicates that they do not intend to replace them with compliant signs and anyone caught beyond the signs will be prosecuted, changes in the law making government property "unpostable" and improper signage notwithstanding. According to those that I have spoken to, the school district's attorneys feel that they are properly posted. The on campus LEOs also say they WILL arrest under the authority of the signs.HankB wrote:So far, I haven't SEEN a "close to" PC30.06 sign - they've either been fully compliant (as far as I could tell) or obviously NON-compliant, like typewritten on a half-sheet of notebook paper.

So what do these legal eagles from PISD say will be the charge? And the on campus LEO's...what will be their explanation to the Collin County prosecutor and judge for arresting you?jimlongley wrote:Plano Independent School District has every school parking lot posted with "close" signs. My $0.02, they're bluffing. They want to scare people into not carrying when they know darn well they can't do anything about it...because it's not illegal.

Since you were not a party to the conversations, I doubt you are really in a position to make such a judgment. It was in the same time frame that I called DPS about the out of compliance signs and was informed that they considered close to compliance to be good enough, and they would be the ones to determine close enough. But you are welcome to come call their bluff any time you want to be the test case.

Stay legal=Stay out of trouble=Good example of proper CHL.
There will always be prayer in schools as long as there are tests.

Most I go into show the "Unlicensed posesion of a firearm..." sign, haven't run into too many gun buster signs around my part at gas stations. Granted, I rarely go in since the invention of pay at the pump, but the ones I have gone in to just display the aforementioned sign.CaptWoodrow10 wrote:Then how do you get gas? certainly your perogative and your right to so do.... but even if nearly every business in town had such? I couldn't go to many places if a gunbuster deterred me in Brownwood.karder wrote:I will turn around at a gunbusters sign. Many many years ago I hunted at a place near Brownwood. When did they become anti-gun out there?

I am also a business owner and I assume that if they wanted a legal CHL holder to stay out they would post the sign that addresses me. The gun busters sign is to make the sheeple feel safe. Why would you assume they have issues with properely licensed carry of firearms when they have done nothing to indicate such a thing?

Re: At what point are you deterred from carrying past...
If the signs are not correct or posted as the law states I ignore them. I follow the law and I will not risk my life because of a bluff. The only way anyone is going to know I carry, for sure, is after I have pull and fired to stop a bad guy. If that happens I think I won't mind dealing with the neusance of being harassed for obeying the law. I weigh the value of my life and the lives of other innocents against the court costs. Simple logic tells me my life and/or the lives of other innocents are much more valuable and worth the work I would have to do to fight for legally carrying and using my CHLG (Gun).
As far as "gun buster" signs I ignore them. I live in an area where they are posted a lot and I have little choice where to shop. To me these signs are as irrelivant as those warning about proper clothing (NO SHIRT NO SHOES...). The law is written to force businesses to comply with the law by posting EVERY enterance... . If the law is not complied with the signs are meaningless. I do not enter any posted or otherwise restricted place while armed unless I have no choice.
Most people are controlled by fear until those that want to take our rights are able to restrict us by laws we thought already existed. Everyone must make their own choices and I respect that right. I do not respect any person or business that half-follows the law and expects others to choose to follow their intent. It is as much of insult to me as a gun show restricting CHL for any reason.
