First off, the Federal expenditures for roads and fighter jets are authorized by the US Constitution (God rest her soul). Federal expenditures for local police are Unconstitutional anyway.

The health care for the Coast Guard cook and his 18 kids is part of his total compensation package and not a government handout.

The purpose of our government is not to "help people," it is to protect them.

If your insurance sucks, so sad, too bad. Buy better insurance. I shouldn't have to pay for it. That's what the free market is for: so you can buy what fits your needs. But now Chairman Maobama and our betters in the Politburo are going to take away that option.
I see that having a discussion with you is a waste of time.

The arguement over guns in Switzerland makes no sense anyway. Most gun ownership there is military weapons issued when you leave the military. It's a military program, extension of the military. It's about protecting the country from foreigners not protecting the citizen from criminals or protecting citizens from their own government. Other kinds of gun ownership is highly regulated and highly taxed. Besides that, there has been a strong push for tighter gun laws in Switzerland in recent years , since it's becoming more socialist .

But treating sick people is not supposed to be THAT profitable but Doctors in other countries are still turning a profit

Also yeah, Private Industry is turning people down for their babies being too fat, being to old, or too sick. You average Canadian lives longer than your Average American, why is that? They eat the same food, live the same kind of life, could it be that being able to go to the doctor and being treated helps you live longer?

Why do we have a Government? Someone said to Protect us, well making sure I receive medical care is protecting me in a very REAL very immediate manner. Anyone heard of Thomas Hobbes and his Social Contract theory? I'm not a college graduate so it gets alittle over my head, so to boil down something very complex People would rather have Social Order than Anarchy. So the Government is not just there for Keeping Enemy ships at bay, its also there to keep social order, be it building roads, maintain a police force (They didnt have those in 1776) fire deparments, the EPA, the FDA, CIA, FBI, Homeland security or in this case taken a system (Insurance) and making it so that Everyone, EVERYONE is able to receive Medical Care.

Yeah that means YOU might have to HELP pay for someone else, also that means if you lost all your 401k in the Recession you can also receive health care that you otherwise couldn't afford. But hey, welcome to life, who said it was fair? You already pay into a bloated Federal Government and State Goverment that wastes tons. So Fix it. Stop whining and fix it. Think the Healthcare will be wastefull, when it is Fix it. Right now there are TONS of programs that are wasteful (Heard the Osprey? Bridge to no Where?) Write letters, Run for office, and fix those programs. But dont retard the progess of the nation because you dont want This long overdue "Change". 10 years from now we can see if the Death Panels and the Endless waits, and the Mass of Doctors quitting really happens or if its all hype (I'm still waiting for Obama to take my guns) untill then, it happened, so instead of trying to turn back time, embrace and FIX IT if it breaks, Make it better.

Then find me a Government Run Health care program that restricts Private Gun ownership!

If you like Socialism so much, why not move to a European country? Heck, I might even pitch in on the plane ticket for you, it would be cheater than paying for your insurance.

Ah, but I already have Insurance. You arent paying for me. Really thats all this bill is, making people get insurance, or offering them coverage if they arent able to get it.
Also I would rather stay here and fight for Health Insurance and Gun Rights, instead of telling people to leave, because they disagree with me

You still didn't answer my question. I didn't ask if doctors in other countries with socialized medicine don't make money. I said name me one government program that makes money. This bill was sold, in large part, that by spending $940 billion dollars we'll reduce the deficit by $150 billion. That means this program will make a net of $1.2 trillion. History shows us that government programs always cost more than originally projected. Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid are all losing money and in danger of going broke in the next 10-15 years, and that's before this bill takes $500 billion away from Medicare.

And I think it's very ironic that you would say 'But hey, welcome to life, who said it was fair?'. That's exactly what you're proposing and what the entire socialist agenda is about - making life fair for everyone. That's the basic difference between liberalism and conservatism - conservatives believe everyone should have equal opportunity; liberals believe everyone should have equal outcomes.

Oh, you already have insurance. It's not the same insurance company you're gonna have in a few years. Your new insurance company is called Mutual of Obama and you will not like it but you won't admit it. The good news is you will have a lot of time in the waiting room to learn new languages so you can communicate with your new ( C- med student) doctor.

Health Insurance is not a right, however the second amendment is.....thats the problem. Show me where healthcare fits in the bill of rights and constituion (or is that all a distant memory)? History proves that Socialism and Comunism does not work, we've seen the end results in numerous countries. Everything in California seems to be a "right" for every citizen, tell me how that is working out for them.............

I'm fascinated how some people's stories change from thread to thread.

Anyhow, is a special session necessary if Abbott has already joined a suit against the civil rights violations passed under cover of darkness?

Somebody post some evidence. I'll start
Switzerland has Universal Health care, and their are Rifles in Every House. Actually the more I read about Switzerland health care the more I like it. You can have Private Insurance if you want it, but everyone is required to have Health Insurance (Sounds familiar)
Oh also, their are Socialists and REAL Communists in Switzerland, not the Pseudo- Lefties we have here in the USA.
Frankly if I were governed by the Swiss I'd probably have a lot less of an issue. Unfortunately I'm governed by the people that brought me such epic hits as the US Post and DPS. :cryin

This not Switzerland, this is America, why not borrow what works from and leave what doesnt, and make a system that will be the envy of the rest of the world?
I would be ok with that. I don't think, no I know, the current bunch in Washington are not up to that task.

Vote em out and bring in those that do.

We still have a Right leaning SCOTUS (kinda), there are Still Republicans in both houses, things can still get done, as long as people dont do this bone headed gridlock nonsense. John McCain got ALOT done because he was willing to reach across the aisle.
We have a Health care bill that says you have to have insurance, and it has to meet a very low set of basics. If this is socialism then we've had it since the 1940s.
So, it passed, man up and make it better.

Gridlock is alive and well and it's the democrats that are feeding it. Republicans were completely locked out of the Obamacare fiasco that just backed its way through the house
