Metal Detectors at HSLR?
Are there metal detectors or people wanding at the entrances? Curious if I need to find a super secret squirrel LEO entrance. I'll be there tonight with the lady and the kiddo if anyone else is going.

Assuming that you are talking about the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Rodeo is strictly off-limits since it is a professional sporting event. I don't know if they try to prevent it at the Livestock Show.

To answer your question...No, as of last Thursday night I did not see or experience any metal detectors or wanding to get in. They did look inside purses but it was just a casual glance.gigag04 wrote:Are there metal detectors or people wanding at the entrances? Curious if I need to find a super secret squirrel LEO entrance. Same experience here. How did you like Kenny Chesney's show?cdc101 wrote:To answer your question...No, as of last Thursday night I did not see or experience any metal detectors or wanding to get in. A nice perk of the job. I'd love go that route but the massive pay cut is hard to justify.gigag04 wrote:not for me :)3dfxMM wrote:Assuming that you are talking about the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Rodeo is strictly off-limits since it is a professional sporting event. Re: Metal Detectors at HSLR?
Sorry. I thought you were asking a CHL related question. Why do you care if there are metal detectors if you can just flash your id and go in anyway?

We're in line now so I will report back.
As far as badging my way in, the can be a hassle depending on the knowledge of the person with a wand. Plus less attention the better.

I'd go bonkers if I had to write code all day. Did it at a&m part time. I paid my IT dues. It's a comfortable living but it won't make us millionaires. I've got other plans for THAT. ;)SQLGeek wrote:A nice perk of the job. Re: Metal Detectors at HSLR?
Went to HLSR tonight to an open bar party and the livestock show, stayed out of the rodeo. No problem carrying onto the grounds.
No wands, no metal detectors but no carry into the stadium for the rodeo.
Main concern is carrying where there is such a large mix of drunks and LEOs. If something went down with such a large crowd, there is too much risk with me being ID'd as a perp for having a weapon exposed or worse not hitting my target in the gawd-awful case that I needed to let fly. LEOs do a good job of maintaining order at HLSR.
I carried because I still had to travel to and from the site. Again, I don't feel the need to carry while on the premise, just off grounds. My compromise was taking the LCP instead of the double stack hi cap. Plus, with all the hugging and pats on the back at the party I thought pocket carry was best.

it's socially unacceptable to be ahead of your time.

I did the same. Kept my kahr on my ankle. But back in my car now and have my .45 back on. It was a good time.

I do, believe me. Fortunately coding isn't my primary job but being in a cube all day isn't exactly my cup of tea.gigag04 wrote:

Ironically, I was the opposite in college. I worked part-time at the local PD back in California.Did it at a&m part time. I paid my IT dues.
How was Rascal Flatts tonight?

Re: Metal Detectors at HSLR?
I would suggest the LEO's go to the LEO office near the bubble on lantern point- it is near the yellowlot. They can probably get you in thru the Grand entry entrance.
On a side note, the corral club 'warehouses' inthe stadium are all posted 51%. I found this interesting as i visited all of them last night.
