Any ideas on gunshops/stores that have a good selection of holsters to look at in the Houston area? Thank you for any ideas.

If you want to save money, go to Collectors to browse for the one you like, then search on-line for that holster.
E-Bay is a good resource.

As stated before, Collectors has an excellent selection of holsters, including some C-TAC, MTAC, and other comp-tac gear, a good selection of Galco gear, as well as others. I've even seen a couple of Milt Sparks rigs there.

I've seen a good selection of comp-tac gear at Top Gun, and FWIW Hoffner's is right next door to them.

Shooter's Station in Conroe has a good selection of gear as well.

Unfortunately, I haven't found any place in Houston that has all the majors at one place :)

Guess it makes for a good excuse to visit all the gun shops in town, huh? :reddevil

Pro Defense in Webster has been the best source for us so far, with several panels of holsters on display. The people there are knowledgeable. Several name brands.

Just ordered one from the Arms Room in League City last week. They were very helpful and went out of their way to try and find one that fit my gun.

Spectre Firearms has a decent selection of both Crossbreed Supertucks and MTAC Minotaurs, not as large a collection as other places but if it's in your area I'd check it out.

Gotta save $ when you can. ;-)

Actually, I bought my first holster from them.
I paid about $90. Then I saw the same holster on EBay for about $50. :cryin

While Collectors gun prices are on the high side, you are not paying a significant premium for smaller ticket items like their holsters vs. online. There is value in having a local source where you can actually see and feel the merchandise. Once you add in shipping from online, you're only paying a few bucks more for the holster from the local merchant. I believe in supporting our local merchants and discourage the 'check it out at the local guy who is shelling out his own dough to stock inventory for you to touch and then send your business out of state.'
it's socially unacceptable to be ahead of your time.

I called The Arms Room before going there and asked if they had a holster in their inventory for a Ruger SP101.

The very polite response was no - but, they could order one for me.

Hhhhhmmm, "I" can order one for me, saving middleman cost, state tax and a trip to their store.

So why would I have them order one for me?

I'm not knocking them - they were doing the only alternative available to them.

Had they a holster for my pistol, there's a very good chance I'dve bought it from them that day.

Maybe it's just me, but when a store doesn't inventory what I want, O.K., but why on earth would I have them (any them...) order it?

The internet has made doing your own ordering (of almost anything) a cost saving breeze.

I'm all about supporting local businesses. and here's a good example...

...Springfield XD40sc
Collectors Firearms- $539.95
Tomball Pawn -------$459.95
Savings----------------$80.00

I just supported the local business with the fairest price.

As for the holsters..Yeah, they have a great selection and in my earlier post
you'll see that I did purchase from Collectors, but when you can find the same holster
for almost half the price, I see nothing wrong with trying to save hard earned money.
