If there isn't a place on the ticket to write the information, he doesn't get it. He doesn't need to know where I work, or even if I work. I sign the promise to appear, and that's all he needs to get. If you're going to write the ticket, write it, get out of my face and move on to jerk the next chain.

There is a space on our tickets for work information.


As far as being arrested - you won't be arrested for not giving that information, however, the officer COULD simply arrest you for whatever the violation was. We don't have to write tickets (except speeding and open container)....all other offenses (even Class C) are arrestable offenses provided the cop witnessed the offense.

VERY simply, you can be as forthcoming or as stingy as you like with your personal information. The ONLY required info you 'must' provide (in Texas) is your name, address, and date of birth. And, that's only AFTER you've been arrested (Texas Penal Code 38.02).

Any time I've been stopped/ticketed (which is very few and far between), I simply say, "I do not wish to divulge any other personal information." They usually just put a dash in the space on the ticket/warning and move on.

And, I too just walk right past the receipt checkers at Frys, etc. I don't like the implication that, as a paying customer, I can't be trusted.
