League City (Galveston Co.): The Arms Room to expand

#1

Post by seamusTX »

The owner of The Arms Room, currently located on FM 518 west of I-45 in League City, is planning to open a new gun store and indoor shooting range in the space formerly occupied by Circuit City in the mall on the southeast corner of I-45 and FM 646. Opening is planned for July.

Thank goodness!!! They have been working on this venture for a while now, or at least that's what I've been hearing. I heard back in October that it was a "go" but there had been no progress at the old Circuit City store. While I am a PSC member, and I do love the Marksman, this will be a closer alternative for those bad weather times.

I imagine the financing and zoning are difficult to work out, especially with the current economic climate.

I used to turn up my nose at indoor ranges, but the past two months of continual cold and rain have changed my outlook.

I saw Travis going over the architect drawings about a month ago when I was in the shop. Will be glad when it is open. I like PSC too but wife I think likes A/C. go figure.

Wow, this is great news! My CHL instructor meantioned it but I wasn't sure where the exact location was going to be. Thanks for posting Jim. This location will be much closer. Yesterday, my wife and I went to the Pasadena indoor range, while it served its purpose, the drive was a lil' long. Besides, need to save on gas to buy more bullets!

Since I work less than a mile from this location, it's entirely possible that I'll make some lunchtime visits to do some stress reduction therapy!!! ;-)

Well, I work 35 miles from the location but only live 5 miles from it, I will be going there for some of my shooting as well. Wish I could do lunch time stress relief! PSC though still for other training etc. Will always stay a member there. Just nice to have options, plus as said my wife prefers indoor. so maybe it will get her out shooting more too. Can't wait till they get it opened.

I hope to run into you and your wife at the new place, Gary. williamkevin and I will remain members at PSC as well because of the diversity it offers with training and because it's just nice to be outside sometimes. I hope the new place has extended hours like The Marksman!

Good news Indoor shooting range. Sure wish they would open one in Texas City. The traffic is terrible in that area in League City and I hate to drive but I may give this place a look see just to get out of the cold and wind blowing my bullets over to the next persons target.: I was trying to practice at least once a week til the cold wet weather stopped me. I had gotten frost bitten twice and decided to wait for summer but I really need the range time.

What kind of "other" classes will you be teaching? Can you say?

Tom, you and I talked about this at the Texas City range a cpl weeks ago, but some basic to advanced training similar to what shiloh does on Tues. and Wed. nights for about 2-3 hrs would be beneficial to shooter's in the area and Bill's bottom line.

Houston comm. college would also be a good model as they hold pistol and carbine training on their Leo range and Memorial shooting centers does some training also.

There is a need for some basic to advanced training in this area and shooter's would love it.

Many at this time can't afford to travel cross country or even to Waco to take a level 1 or 2 pistol and/or carbine course but could do such on a weekly basis for a cpl hours once or twice a week for say range fee plus $50-$65. Most carbine shooter's such as myself know have a 22lr conversion or an 22lr upper or a pistol caliber upper so using a carbine in such a training session should be no problem along with the mentioned pistol training.

I think this could be a boon for Bill and his range business.
It is certainly worth considerable thought I would think.

I'm certainly looking forward to this range opening. Given the quality of the shop I expect good things from the range.
