If you could only have one gun...

Re: If you could only have one gun...
If it's an EOTWAWKI situation, all I want is a .22 rifle. I can carry a year's supply of ammo in my pocket, I can kill anything I need to eat, and I can always "use the gun you've got to get the gun you need".

Get an M1A, hands down over a PSL... ...if that qualifies as "mil-surp."lawrnk wrote:And to add difficulty, it can't be a 1911. Bonus points for mil-surp. Thoughts? I need a new weapon. Thinking about a romanian PSL this month to add to collection, but just brain storming.
Better accuracy and less weight out of a rifle firing a cartridge of roughly equal range and ballistics. Better ammo availability. And being U.S. manufactured, parts availability might be better.
Plus, and I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but in my opinion, the PSL is just butt-ugly, and an M1A is a thing of beauty with classic lines.

OK. Since lawrnk excluded the 1911, I'll go with a Colt Combat Commander in .45.
Barring that, I'd take a HI-Power. Then a 92F. And the list is endless from there.

Now, compare that to the PSL:
You see that? You can drape something ugly in a satin sheet, and it is still ugly! Howabout that?

Well done, that'd be my handgun choice too.joe817 wrote:OK. Since lawrnk excluded the 1911, I'll go with a Colt Combat Commander in .45.
If I could only have one it would probably be a rifle, since I've only owned one it'd be my AR.

Re: If you could only have one gun...
Tough question. If I had to pick up one gun to get me by for all situations, I would grab a 12 gauge and I would go for a Benelli M4.

Re: If you could only have one gun...
I have assumed that since it is on a CHL forum then you mean one for carry.... If I HAD to get rid of all of mine save one, I would keep my Taurus 24/7 Pro 9mm. 9mm ammo is cheaper than most, it holds 18 rounds and has never had a hiccup. I had to shoot 1,000 rounds in one day in 35 degree weather with sand blowing all over but went bang every time. Unlike the Glock, it has a safety and double strike ability.

Man was never intended to own one gun! It doesn't make big holes, and it doesn't have a big range, but it travels more than anything else in my arsenal; the LCP.
