Annoyed Man,

As I said, there are no right or wrong answers, only personal decisions. There are so many scenarios and “what if’s” that there is no one answer that fits all.

This is a good thread though because it gives all who read it food for thought.

Dan, if you were far enough away and had a gun, you would have time to order the man to drop the knife.
God Bless America, and please hurry.
When I was young I knew all the answers. When I got older I started to realize I just hadn’t quite understood the questions.-Me

Calculated risks, some chose to go into burning buildings to save lives and property of strangers. Believe me, it's not the money. But there is something to being able to do something that others may not be able to do by training or heart; and then to not do it would burn a hole in the middle of my spirit. Yes, if I could I would.
I think we're saying the same thing. <SNIP>
Yup we are saying exactly the same thing. I was simply elaborating a tad on the thought process, after all I wanted to feel as if I was actually adding something to the conversation. I should have premised my post with an:

I did vote "yes", but there are so many facets to any shooting scenario.

If I was accompanied, as an example, my primary responsibility would be to their safety. If their safety could be established, I would shoot to protect someone's life.

If I was alone, I hope I would have the courage to shoot to protect someone else.

But there may be a very long decision chain, that in most cases have to be run in seconds.

Who really knows what you may or may not do until the time comes. The best I can tell is that every responder has given a correct answer.

Draw from your hybrid leather/kydex holster and shoot the BG.

Then do a triple back flip behind cover.
When in doubt
Vote them out!

Such an endeavor with me involved would more closely resemble a scene from "Paul Blart" than "Lethal Weapon". I really sympathized with him when he tried to slide behind the post.

You can start at the beginner level with just the back flips and work your way up to returning fire while doing the back flips.

I prefer the "walk over" while firing full auto, ejecting clips and then drawing fresh weapons before planting my feet. You never miss and it looks cool.

Well, with sufficient altitude, you can do most anything...I just can't guarantee your condition after landing... :thumbs2:

But back to your very wise statement pages ago...I agree with you there... :tiphat:

What some may be missing is there has to be an immediate need to use deadly force per the law, as I have understood it over the years...And in any case, you just have to be reasonable in that determination...

Like you said, you basically have to live with yourself till your time is up, if you take a life...

But we all know you don't get a CHL because you believe that you now have a license, or permission to do so...We shoot to stop, not to kill, or murder...More to save a life (our own, or the life of another in rare cases)...

I am not going to vote on this poll because I do not believe anyone should premeditate themselves into anything, no matter what the situation is, or whom it involves...

This is one of those, "you need to be careful what you post in a public forum" threads...

Loose lips sink ships, and what you write on the internet can certainly be used against you in a court of law...

I'm jus' sayin'... ;-)

what has our society come to when we refuse to (help) each other?"
A much more litigous one than in days of yore. It would help in these matters if the castle doctrine was expanded so as to encompass incidents outside the home and place of business, thereby limiting one's exposure to lawsuits from survivors and next of kin. This is the logical conclusion of what should be done in light of the FBI's opinion the killing of a perpetrator by a victim who is present at certain violent felonies such aa robbery is a justifiable homicide.
