What level of disability I am only 10%.
not enough, sorry.

50% is where it gets goofy
50% is considered a SEVERELY disabled veteran
i was just bumped to 100% so now property taxes just went to zero for the first 25 acres :rules:

Of course you can always call DPS (may take quite a while to get through) and ask to be sure.

Not true. I sent them a Xerox of mine.

I JUST got off the phone with the folks in Austin (1-800-224-5744). The pleasant young lady I spoke to said that the copy of the DD-214 does NOT...I repeat NOT need to be certified, BUT you must make sure it is a copy of the entire document, and it MUST say "Honorable Discharge".

From that I can safely conclude that you needn't start crying yet. :cheers2: :anamatedbanana :tiphat: :woohoo :thewave

Good luck
Things must have changed since I got out (1966). When I got my DD-214 the entire document consisted of one page and "Honorable Discharge" was on that one page.

The DD-214 original comes with copies. The very first page is longer than the others and gives the specifics of your discharge, to include the mention of "honorable" or whatever applies. The other copies are normal 8x11 and don't have that info at the bottom.

Yeah...things have changed since 1966 (when I was born!). My birth certificate has a line "Color if other than White..." :rules: . My DD-214 circa 1991 has several copies without the discharge characterization, I assume as a "courtesy" to those whose service may not have been so HONORABLE. Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting my 50% veteran discount when I renew in 2011. :patriot:
4/13/1996 Completed CHL Class, 4/16/1996 Fingerprints, Affidavits, and Application Mailed, 10/4/1996 Received CHL, renewed 1998, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2016...). "ATF... Uhhh...heh...heh....Alcohol, tobacco, and GUNS!! Cool!!!!"
