That's why I always watch to see where they go after I don't answer the door.
Hopefully they just go away because it wouldn't be in their best interest to try to get in.

I believe in armed when legal and that applies to my house as well mine even sits on the back of the toilet when I shower because crime never takes a break and I never know when it will happen to me.

My best friend (he is LEO), my girlfriend and her friends laugh at me because I OC inside the house. My response to them is "Thats why its called a HOME-invasion".

Now you guys have me thinking that a No Soliciting sign isn't enough.

How about this:

"Solicitors will be treated like scouts for a burglary ring" or "Strangers at my door will be treated like home invasion suspects"

;-)

The only time my sidearm isn't on my hip are when it is forbidden by enforceable law and when I'm in the shower. I have 2 kids at home too, 6 and 4 years old. Oh, sorry, maybe when I'm in the field bird hunting the pistol can stay in the truck if it's hot and I don't want to soak the holster with sweat, but then I have a shotgun instead. :thumbs2:

To the person that doesnt like solicitors, we have had some success with putting up a no solicitor sign. My wife and I fought about that, but everytime I sat down for dinner, the doorbell would ring and my wife would not answer the door ...
LOL.

I came up with a solution that works for me.
I removed the hard wired door bell button and replaced it with a wireless bell and button.
When I am expecting someone, I put the button out. I have it on velcro for easy removal.
Or, as is most often the case, I don't have the button out at all.
I enjoy watching solicitors try to find the button.
I must be bored.

Or an ambulance siren and light bar lights hard wired to the doorbell. Talk about a rude awakening! :biggrinjester:

I like that "whole bunch of buttons" idea, sounds more entertaining than what I was going to do .... remove the button and paint a fake button there.

Running with that idea, but avoiding upsetting the neighbours, how about a button that, instead of ringing a bell, simply lights up a "No Solicitors" sign?

You could even combine that with PappaGun's approach, and have a switch indoors, so's you could set it to "Doorbell" when you were expecting someone and "No Solicitors" the rest of the time.

How about a button that activates an external speaker that sounds like a shotgun being racked? For better effect, put the speaker in the bush that's in the yard.
