I have bought from Georgia Arms many times, but for awhile they did not have ammo for many weeks to ship and my last order took 8 eights weeks to ship, their canned heat is $350.00 vs $295.00 a 1000 at usaammo and faster shipping times.

Buying ammo online USED to be a good deal. Since Obama gave them an excuse to raise the prices...not so much. :cryin When wally world has ammo, they beat every single one of the online order sights on prices.

I have had very good luck price shopping using http://gun-deals.com/index.php.

Shipping is NBD. I usually buy deep in lots of >500 rounds.

I have found this to be the best way to buy ammo unless a local deal presents itself like when Academy had 7.62x39 on sale for $2.99/bx last year.

AmmoToGo is a good outfit and usually very cheap too.

I just looked at the "deals" on that link. Every single one of those prices are higher than what you can get the same or comparable ammo for at everyday prices at either academy or wally world.

I have to ask at this point....How are some of you guys doing the math to figure these over bloated prices are good???? I don't mean to be disrespectful here, I am simply trying to point out the obvious.

For instance... 11.50 plus shipping for a box of STEEL cased 115 grain is not a good deal. I saw steal cased 9mm over flowing the shelves at academy for under 10 bucks a box. I guess I just don't get it.

I just got tired of looking for ammo (1000-2000) rds when I buy, Academy at 290 and 1960 2 weeks ago had no 40 or 45 only steel monarch 9mm and Gander across the frwy is a rape and not enough or a limit on what you can purchase, if I get an itch I want to scracth it now and you can not buy a case of anything in ammo right now except but some 223. I buy ammo to blast not hoard , got my hoarding done years ago.

I am not sure what your reasons for buying have to do with price. I don't buy ammo to hoard either. Like you I buy ammo to blast and due to this I find that when I purchase it at a good price I can blast even more ammo. Now the convenience part i can understand. It may very well be worth it to some folks to pay the extra 2-3 bucks a box for convenience. I think I just misunderstood what you meant by a good deal. Now I understand...thanks for clearing that up for me.

I shoot alot of 40 because that is the caliber I teach with, 2 hrs a week and 40 is usally hard to find in quanity , and usaammo 40sw 1000 case = 12.75 a box plus shipping and in range ammo I dont care if it is new or not, 223 = 29.5 cents a shot almost every 20rd box of 223 out there is 9-10 dollors a box=45 to 50 cents a shot.

Like I said...I can definitely relate to the convenience issues....especially if your giving shooting lessons. Not to get off topic here but is there any reason for teaching with the 40 instead of the 9mm? I don't run a shooting school but I have taught a few noobs to shoot and was just curious as to why you give lessons with a 40 instead of say a 9mm or even a .22. The 9mm is a lot cheaper and also easier for the noobs since it has less recoil and what not. The 22 is even cheaper still and allows a noob to learn proper form before exposing them to the recoil of a heavier caliber.

Edit...well darn...I just checked out the .40 at USA and it ended up being almost 14 bucks a box for me due to shipping. I stopped at that point but I think they were about to add tax since I am from Texas. Oh well...it was worth the try. thanks for the tip. I guess I am back to wally world again...wally world has a lot of the 40...thank goodness. Thanks just the same.

Oh... that makes sense. I just assumed noobs cause it seems like guys at the combat shooting level would have their own combat guns to learn with. You teach for law enforcement?

Back on topic for a minute...in the other thread you mentioned some guy by name that said 380 was flying off the shelves. If that is the guy that runs USA, maybe you could get him to offer a 10% discount to forum members  ....that might help get some of the prices in line and cancel out the tax difference. I bet they could increase sales from the forum.

I've been buying ammo online cheaper than I could get it at Wallmart. I bought 1,200 rounds of S&B for the equivalent of $10 for a box of 50 (this was last year before the shortages). There was no $20 hazardous cargo fee that someone mentioned. The shipping still brought it to around $12 a box for good quality 9mm thru ammunitiontogo.com

They currently have hollow point 380 available. I have also ordered from Cabelas when there was a good price. Sometimes you can order multiple boxes for the same shipping cost that one would cost.

As far as I can tell, 380 is the only that is still trickling in anyway. And for whatever reason, I don't have any problem finding even it. I just paid $49 for a 100 count box of WWB of 380 in Brownwood. The indoor range in Abilene keeps it, Cabelas has it both on their shelves in Ft Worth (Buffalo Bore brand only) and their 1-800 number for their catalog orders said they had thousands in stock of 380 ready to ship.
