Congrats on getting the plastic. Time for you to take the traditional first armed trip to Wal-Mart.

Sounds like you had a great turn around time.

Took me exactly 90 days from when they received my application. I've had no arrests, no anything, not even a ticket, actually.

I think there was a big delay during a "field check" in Lubbock or something. I called once every couple weeks, (they were probably some of the nicest folks I've had the pleasure of dealing with) and she told me that they were "waiting on Lubbock."

Someone told me they're actually running at 90 days for some new applications now. Is this the case?

It took DPS 18 working days to process my renewal, and the plastic was in my mailbox in 23 working days from the day they received my packet.

73 Days for New Application

#680

Post by Landman »

CHL Application Stats:

I live in Bexar County.

I sent my application regular mail on July 3, 2006.

Photograph was returned on August 4 because I forgot to sign the back. I signed it and returned it the same day.

PIN was issued on August 16, 2006.

Status on DPS website was changed from "Processing Application" to "License Issued" on September 14, 2006. Waiting for plastic now.

73 days including a screwup on my part. Not bad in my opinion.

This was a new application not a renewal.

I hope this info helps with your statistics.

Hey all!

Guess what the Texasonline website still says? Yup... that's right... "Processing Application". Yet... guess what I received in the mail Saturday? Yup... you got it right again! It's my CHL!!!! Yippee! :o

Now to carry in public... OY! I have practiced a lot! Yet... I always wonder about "printing". Oh well, I suppose you gotta know what you're looking for to know if someone is carrying or not.

So, to all of you out there that were in my shoes... CALL THEM (DPS)! They are not updating their site as often as they should. Why? They are too overwhelmed.

So, let's see... it took a total of 63 days to get my CHL in the mail. That's not all that bad I guess from all I've read.

Keep your chin up and smile... it'll be here 'fore ya know it!
(Plus... Smile a lot and everyone will wonder what you're up to!!)

Mailed packet May 11, 2006.
Received license July 5, 2006.
Total 55 days. But there were two holidays in between, Memorial day and Fourth of July. Received PIN on June 14. DPS website said application approved on June 30. So, if they received it on May 13, that means it took 48 days, while in their possession, to process.

today, is 54 days, this is really getting tiring. I check mail religiously every day and watch it like a hawk. I see that you might get license even if website still says processing app. This makes me crzy. Oh well, thanks for the waiting room seat. wouldnt know what to do without you guys.

FINALLY GOT IT!!!

Post by cubes »

Sent it on 08-21 received it 11-08 = 79 DAYS.

I was told is was the 2 counties I live/work at that took a long time to send in their forms. After that It was mailed out the following day!

But I do have to say, living in Austin, the people at DPS are very helpful and polite. They helped me make sure everything was fine. Even the 3 times I went back to check the status and the 2 times I e-mailed I got timely responce.

As soon as I get my crossbreed IWB holster my G22 will be having a long term relationship with it.
