Now I have a 1911 Carry....

#1

Post by Reysc »

Finally, my Colt Combat 1991A1 is ready for carry.. Shot 200 flawless rounds yesterday at the range.. Feeding problems and slide not locking after the last round issues are all gone. After the break-in and with a Wison Mag and a two Tripp Research Cobra Mags the Colt Combat runs like a Rolex watch!! I added a nice set of Carbon Fiber Grips and an extended slide release from Wilson Combat and wow! it's a different gun!! After the hunting season, it will be with Ken Crawley for some minor upgrades  ... BTW, I'm using Federal Personal Protection rounds 160 gr. are those good rounds ?? What do you guys use for your 1911 carry ammo??? Will post pics soon!
Thanks to Cosmo 9 and Carlson1 ...

Congrats! What holster do you plan on using?

If all goes well I should have a Kimber in a week or two.

I've got a Don Hume OWB given to me by Carlson1.... Are you getting the Kimber Ultra ?? Those are nice but I can't afford 'em...Geez, the price of the 45 ammo is killing me!!! Maybe we need to learn how to reload??

Sounds like a great gun...just remember that a Rolex watch will stop if you are not wearing it everyda and it loses a couple of minutes every week!

Actually I found a Kimber Tactical Ultra II for just about the same price that I'd pay for the Kimber UCII from Kimber. With just two clips through it I couldn't pass it up. Found it on GA, hope to solidify the deal tonite and get the ball rolling to get it in my hands.

I have to carry IWB for the sheer fact that I have little girls, and while they could still get to it IWB, there's a lot less to play with. Also will take a while for my wife to get used to all of it, so IWB may be the best all around option. I'm willing to trade a little comfort......

I've got a Kimber Ultra Carry II in stainless steel that I love. I've put over 650 rounds through it without any problems at all. It's been a dream to shoot. I thought that it would be a little punishing, but I actually like the way that it feels better than my buddy's Pro CDP. I'm sure that it has something to do with those dual recoil springs.

Bought an IWB Brommeland Max Con V, and am still waiting on that. Can't wait to have it in hand.

I'm shooting 230 gr Federal HS as my defense rounds. They feel nice!

Congratulations Rey! I can't wait to see it. I use the Winchester Rangers. They seem to feed good and they have a good report. I buy them at the DFW range.

Rey I hate to tell you this but I had a Rolex that was the worst watch I ever had. It never kept good time and on the third time in for repair I just had them sell it. I can't wait to see what you've done with the "COMPACT"
