If you go to http://www.gunsamerica.com/transfer.cgi, you can enter your telephone area code and get a list. These are people who have specifically agreed to handle out-of-state transfers and won't consider it a nuisance.

Where do you live in Houston? I live in the NW side of town and the FFL I use only charges $10 for transfers.

Martini Hardware is located at 7145 Lawndale sort of near Gulfgate, 713-926-7466. He charges $10 for your first time and $5 thereafter IIRC. Heckuva nice guy and you can buy some hinges while you are at it. He has been doing this since the time when all hardware stores sold guns.

There is a guy near I45 & Cullen who does transfers for $10. He is a member of our rifle club and started doing transfers for club members, now will do them for all legal purchasers. If you want his contact info let me know.
