To clarify, what is required on the renewal. For example you obtain it with your Texas CHL, but let it expire before the Pennsylvania License Renewal.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm wondering if there is a similar solution to my problem. I have need of traveling about once a year to Ohio. As you know, even though our requirements are similar, Texas and Ohio don't have a reciprocity agreement (which I've written a few times to our AG about).

Ohio and Florida have a reciprocity agreement. Is it possible for me to easily get a Florida CHL and then be legal to carry in Ohio?

Thanks in advance for any help y'all can provide.

This URL doesn't work anymore. Shucks.
License to Carry Firearms

License to Carry Firearms Applications Via Mail Discontinued as of March 31, 2011

As the result of requirements of Act 66, 2005, applicants must have their photo and signature captured electronically into our system. At this time there is no manner to complete these requirements without the personal appearance of the applicant.

Therefore we will not be able to process any mailed applications received after March 31, 2011.

You can still do a walk-in application if you want a Pennsylvania license. A lot of states restricted their nonresident licenses because of antigun lawmakers in other states threatening reciprocity.

Yes you can. There are a list of friendly counties contiguous to Ohio where you can be in and out on about 10 minutes. Easily found at the OFCC forums.

BTW, PA started requiring in person licenses because they implemented a color photograph/laminated card system that is similar to a drivers license. Their old licenses, like the one I still have, was simply a piece of paper with no photo.
