Well, I'm on round 4 of the 6 step method of waiting on the license. DPS received my packet this morning at 10:14am.
"Class: First-Class Mail®
Service(s): Certified Mail™
Return Receipt
Status: Delivered
Your item was delivered at 10:14 AM on August 8, 2009 in AUSTIN, TX 78765."

I didn't realize they work on Saturday's. (they must be working overtime to try to catch up with the flood of applications).

I was afraid you'd say that.

For now, I'm gonna try and hold it to 3 or 4 days a week. M-W-F sounds good to me. But...but...but, oh I just gotta check! :smilelol5: :smilelol5:

Well I checked my online status. This is ridiculous! They've had my application since 8:14am this morning and it STILL says "packet mailed to applicant". :totap:

(note: all of the above is pure tongue in cheek humor. I know, I know...VERY little humor). :smilelol5: "rlol"

Texas status is still Packet Mailed to applicant, which is no surprise. They only received it last Tuesday.

However, Utah did charge my credit card today, which is interesting because I was told they do not charge until they begin processing. I also was told that non-resident applications get placed into the "back of the pile" since Utah also has a time limit in which to process applications for residents. So, we will see. Utah has no online status check so it is hard to tell what, if anything, is occurring!

I'm still fairly certain that Utah will arrive before Texas.

OK, well I applied online back in Feb or March and finally took my class this past Saturday. I overnighted my packet to my cousin in Austin and he dropped it off today at DPS. He told me the lady said my packet was good and should be issued in 60 days. Now I'm curious if anyone who has dropped theirs off in person has gotten it faster then mailing? I figured she just said that to be in compliance. But anywho, day 1.

I wouldn't think it would make any difference at all, except for the time in the mail. It then has to get entered into the system. Then it has to be processed, like all the others in line....THEN it has to be sent out for the infamous background check...which is where most of the delays are coming from.

I'd like to suggest you keep a running record like I do, and many others here, right in your signature line. It's done by going to "User Control Panel" and then editing your signature.

It would be an interesting experiment though.
