Oh! I know where that is! That's been there like forever, if it's the same one I'm thinking of. I think I remember driving by it back in the 60's. It sure looks like a nice place. A little far for me to drive though. Must be getting lazy in my old age. Thanks for the link!

Yeah, its as far as I want to drive and we're in Grapevine :rolll

It gets hot though since its outdoor. We go in the a.m. then leave by lunch so we can replenish ourselves at a nearby bbq or burger joint

Well I understand. Being in Grapevine, it's just down the road from you on 114. And the bbq over there at N.W. Hwy. just can't be beat! I think the Pappa's family owns alllllll of those eateries over there! Even though I'm in Arlington, it's only 7 minutes for me to the range I go to.

Status finally changed today from Processing License to Application Completed - license issued or certificate active. Only been 162 days. Did I say only? I live in the dreaded Harris County. If I get stopped by Leo prior to receiving license I intend to tell him that I have been approved as shown on line but I am not carrying. It seems I read somewhere on this forum that someone got called down by Leo because it showed up on the license check that it was active even though he had not received the license I will post when I finally have it in hand.

Holy moly

We can take my name off the February list, my plastic arrived in today's mail and I am holding it in my hand. All the information looks correct. Everything seems fine. Dare I say my initial CHL app process may officially be over? There's got to be a catch.

Where is the emoticon for 'cautiously optimistic'?

well im still offshore and status still the same. wife tried to call dps and talk to them about where was the lost fingerprint card that we had the receipt dps signed for. would not talk to her because of prvacy laws even though she had all my info. but they said i could email them. well i have sent an email everyday since 8/1. no reply. i guess when i get home on 8-14 i will get reprinted again and overnite the prints. this sucks, and to think my taxes pay for this bull#$&# program. something needs to be done. by the time i get my license it will be wll over 200 days. orginal packet received 2-27-09.
dont know if i will ever do this again. if i wasnt out so much money, id just forget about it. not worth the hassle. i had such hi gh hopes when i started that 90 days would be max.

Dropped off my app (and one for my wife) in Washington yesterday. They said I'll have it in 60 days. Looks like I'll be able to carry in my home state for Halloween, lol. <sigh>

At least now I won't be in such a rush to get my wife to take her CHL class in TX. I'll make sure she gets to it sometime over the next 5 years. Maybe in a couple of years everything will be back to normal and TX/Harris County will be able to stick to the official processing times.
