Another vote for the Bullet Trap. Took my CHL course, purchased my GI Champ, and spend just about every Saturday there. Great staff! So good in fact, I am now a member!

+1 for ASC, but I think one-eyed-fatman has a new favorite.

Now that the temps are in the mid 90's Champion Firearms in College Station is a nice place to shoot. It's airconditioned!! 15 yards maximum distance gets a little boring but the cool air blowing and the protection from other shooter's brass makes for a relaxing trip to the range. I hate being hot and sweaty so much I even found an indoor 100 yard rifle range with A/C. Red's in Austin. On the 3 or 4 days of the year when it is cool and dry around Houston even Hot Wells on Hwy 290 is OK.

Where is Champion Firearms located now? When I was in school down there they had a store at Southwest Pkwy and Texas Ave. The last time I was down there I noticed they had moved. I bought my first handgun, a Ruger P90, at that store. They were very helpful and knowledgable.

I echo the praises of Champions Firearms.

I was in there today. A little bit more helpful maybe on directions would be that it is in the shopping center at the corner of Holleman and Texas, in the same buildings as Starbucks, and the Sprint store (ironic anit-gun sprint is right by CF).

They shut the range down today (for the day) to clean it. They keep a clean shop, and sell more firearms, per capita than almost any other store in the US. Great, great place to buy or shoot.

I have not shot at Champions, but the one time I was there I was impressed with the cleanliness and professionalism of the staff.

Having lived at those UGLY Sevilla Apartments on Holleman just west of Texas Ave., I'm pretty familiar with that area and I know exactly where you're talking about. Thanks.

ASC is an OK place to shoot but I always get nervous going there. Did I get here in time to hang my targets or do I have to wait half an hour. I need to fix my targets up, gotta hurry! At my new place there is no hurry up. Kick back, relax, take your time. Cease fire at will. Much more relaxing. And I save about an hours worth of time waiting around waiting for the slow pokes to drag in at the last minute to hang a target or five. Ya, I like my new shooting place. Hell the last time I was out there a rattle snake shook his tail just to say hello and he didn't even ask me for money. How much friendlier can a shooting place get? But I think I'm gonna build me a little 410 guage snake gun just in case he ever does ask for money.

Although I like Bullet Trap I only renew my membership every couple of years, I spend more time at the Collin County Gun Range, which is farther away, but I have access to the tactical range.

Where, may I ask, is the heaven of a range? Sounds perfect.

I really enjoy shooting at Quail Creek which is off FM1171 and 35, above Texas Motor Speedway. Outdoor range, $10 all day, nice bunch of guys run it, that is where I took my CHL course, I beleive in backing the "little guy". The range has 15,25,50 and 100yrds. I just wish they had a 7 & 10 yrd. pistol range..
Does anyone shoot at the Ranges in the Ft.Worth area? Which ones do you like?

Thanks,

Jim
