I finally got an application completed two days shy of my 25th birfday....that is the best birthday gift. Now I have to wait on my NFA paperwork...maybe the federal government is a little quicker than Texas legislation.
it would have been better for you if it was 2 days after your b-day...
you would have gotten a almost a full free year before renewal time .

and BTW..happy birthday :tiphat:

Montgomery/Harris County Day 166 and PLASTIC IN HAND :woohoo :anamatedbanana
No Wally Walk Today, usually don't do that till Saturday morning. I did have to go to the bank, so my first carry was walking up to the bank door and having an armed guard open (from the inside) and hold the door for me. That was kinda cool. Let ya'll know about the wally walk saturday.

Received my plastic yesterday! In hindsight, it doesn't seem like 6 months. Guess I'm getting old.
It was worth it. It actually only took 45 days for DPS to process the app. The rest of the time was on me
to get background info for them. What's up with that?
But it's done.

need some advice from the board. have had application in since Feb. 27th. prints redone in may. forgot info on the new print cards. they sent one back in and filled it out and sent back in. the second card was sent back out to me on June 23rd. for missing info. i know its my fault i forgot the info, however why couldnt they of sent both cards back to me at the same time, instead of 2 weeks apart. i talked to a rep friday, and she said they are still waiting on the second card to show back up. my wife sent it in certified mail return receipt requested, but we never got a signature card back. she cant find our receipt to show when we mailed it. The rep told me to wait until i get home next month ( work offshore and leave this week, wont be back until 8-14.) to call back in and see if card has showed up. that will be almost 7 mos. of waiting for this dang license. im about ready to pull the rest of the hair i have left out and just say the heck with it. this is the most dificult process i have ever done, and i was in the military. should i call dps and just request new blank cards, resubmitt prints again, with all the information. or wait until i get home next month. i am so tired of waiting. thanks for letting me vent and can someone tell me what i need to do to get this done. :banghead:

If it were me I would send another set in. The local police should be able to do them for you at a cost of about $10, then I would send them certified mail as a priority ship.

The reason for the two week delay is anyone's guess. I could tell you what my guess is but then my view is somewhat clouded. :waiting:

Some additional information on Harris County applications.

2-12-2009 -- my application was received by DPS in Austin; it had been over-nighted by USPS. (This should be considered calendar day 1 in the process.)

2-20-2009 -- my check was cashed by DPS. (calendar day 8)

3-19-2009 -- a letter was issued by DPS containing my PIN. (calendar day 35 of the process)

April, 2009 -- all quiet except for the innocuous wording on the DPS website: in process. (calendar day 77 of the process)

May, 2009 -- all continued quiet; the innocuous wording continued on the website. (calendar 108 days have now passed)

June, 2009 -- the eery silence continues; wording remains same: in process. (calendar 138 days into the process)

7-1-2009 -- sent letter of inquiry requesting assistance to State Rep ELLEN COHEN (calendar 139 days of process)

also,

7-1-=2009 -- sent letter of inquiry requesting assistance to State Senator RODNEY ELLIS (calendar 139 days of process)

7-10-2009 -- received a letter from State Senator RODNEY ELLIS; a nonsensical response which DID NOT respond to my letter but was full of political rhetoric dealing with his issues. HE HAS LOST MT VOTE. (calendar 148 days into process)

It is interesting to note, however, that State Rep ELLEN COHEN has never responded in any manner. SHE, TOO, HAS LOST MY VOTE.

7-23-2009 -- website notice changes at mid-day to read: : "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active". (calendar 161 days into the process)

7-24-2009 -- CH License placed in mail. (calendar 162 days and counting)

7-27-2009 -- License received. Total 165 calendar days.

Of the 165 days, there were 2 national holidays plus multiple weekends which should be deleated in final consideration and counting.

Thanks to everyone on here who has shared experiences and frustrations. It has made the journey bearable.
