I work nights. My days off are Sunday and Monday. Most classes are on Saturday and are only done during daytime hours. Even if I took a Saturday off, I would not be getting off of work until 5:00 am. I don't think I could possibly sit through a 10 hr. class. Now if there was a Sunday or Monday class, then I would have my CHL already.

There are Instructors that do evening classes. I don't know of them myself, but I know they exist. There are others that will do a one on one class anytime you want. It would probably cost more than a normal class with several attendees, but it would accommodate your needs and provide you with undivided attention from the Instructor.

Look into both of the above options in your area. good luck! :tiphat:

If I could find one that is willing to give a class on a Sunday or Monday night, then I would be more than willing to pay extra. I would even be willing to take the class in segments if it makes it easier on the trainer.

Update.
I found a Monday class and attended it. Everything complete and all paperwork sent to DPS. Just sitting back waiting now.

Reasons you have not gotten a CHL?

I'm put off enough to stay: Because the TX app process is slow as molasses on a cold day and THE hindrance to actually receiving a CHL

When we arrived Conus I was able to get into a class within 2wks of hitting ground.

Before I answered: "Other" - we were stationed out of state/country when TX passed CHL legislation.

Money more than anything else, but as with everything it all depends on where you put your priorities. I recently had an experience that really pushed me over the edge for seeing the need.
Took the class with Crossfire on July 6. Waiting on court clerk info before sending in the packet.

There were two issues that my fellow coworkers and myself ran across. The cost. Even with the discounts on the class it Cost close to $300. The other was that we all work weekends and evenings. One of my coworkers found an instructor that was just starting and was able to work around our schedules. He had to break it up into to 5 hour days. If it wasn't for the fact we were able to get enough people to make a class we would probably still trying to take the class.

As long as Bush was in office I had no fear of losing my 2A.
Game has changed and now I'm on the April waiting list.

Her excuse was multi part.

1 - She did not have a firearm
2 - Did not know how too shoot
3 - Was afraid of looking stupid

My solution
1 - She used mine
2 - $45 at the local community college for basic handgun class
3 - Sat through the class with her just to keep her from "looking stupid"

They both said finding the time to take the class was their biggest problem. Both said breaking up the class into smaller blocks (1-2 hours) and spreading the course out over several weeks would be better for them. One suggested on-line classes (although obviously the shooting qual couldn't be done online)
