Renewal Lapse Solution

#1

Post by txbirddog »

I was getting close to my CHL expiring and was really worried. I wanted to get a Non-resident to tide me over until mine arrived. Utah and Florida were going to be too long. Pennsylvania gave me the solution at the Centre County Sheriff's office. Mailed in my $26 and in a WEEK had my non-resident license. :woohoo

Hope this helps some that my be in the same boat that I was.

Thanks for the tip........

I doubt that I will ever be in a lapse situation but I think for 26.00 you can't go wrong for a 5 year license that is good in Texas and many other states.

Say you loose or are robbed of your Texas CHL, you can still carry concealed with this while waiting to get a Texas replacement. You don't have to leave your "Rosco" in the car as you would have to do if you didn't have this........

I sent off my application today. When mine comes, I will just put it in the Safe and it will be there if it is ever needed. Cheap insurance!

Thanks again! :tiphat: :txflag:

Too bad you have to have an existing CHL from another state.
CHL Class 3/1/09
DPS Received Packet 3/9/09
Status "Processing Application" 4/14/09
License Issued/ Certificate Active ?????????
Received Lisence in mail ?????????

:smilelol5: :rules: Well, that is what lets you eliminate the instruction part and the background check to get the license..........you have already done those (in Texas in this case) and your license, that is honored in PA, proves that. :tiphat:

New Hampshire is the same way. But you can get a Florida CHL pretty easy if you can wait.

I couldn't wait on FL, ergo the ONE WEEK for PA. I am able to carry today, otherwise as of 2 days ago I would have been a criminal.

Thats a good idea. Does it add any states to the list that we can carry in?
Class taken 12/6
Packet Sent 12/30
Processing Application: 2/6
Delay-- Instructor number didn't match with who the TR100 was assigned to.
4/20- Told by DPS that my 60 days restarted 3/21
Plastic Received ---

You also get NH according to handgunlaw.us. Main reasons I got was $26 and the speed. I just wasn't prepared for the length of time to get the renewal. Thanks hussein... :mad5

That is great! I'm sending in for mine too. Can't beat a deal like that to fill the gap if wallet is lost or stolen or license renewal is slow.

THANKS!!

My application is going out tomorrow, although it seems almost too good to be true. Can't believe the anti-gunners aren't raising hell about something like that.

Actually, you get NH (and WV, btw) only for resident permits from PA. It doesn't give you reciprocity for non-resident permits.

New Hampshire used to be the way to go for those who already had a CHL, but sounds like PA is a much better deal now. NH used to be $15, but apparently that was too good to last. Now it is $100.

BirdDog, you should be put on a pedestal for all to worship. I got my PA license yesterday and now can lay back, carefree, while the newbees moan and complain and bang their heads against the wall. What a great service you have provided. Thank you! :tiphat:
