Re: April 2009 Applications
USA1 just call as many state reps and senators as you can. When you talk to their staff kiss their butt like you have never kissed butt before. They will bend over backwards for you. Like I said I dont know which one had the impact but all I know is that DPS called me personally to apologize and 8 days later my CHL has been issued. God's speed!

USA1 also do not call the district number. Call the reps Austin number. It does make difference.

Re: April 2009 Applications
dleewo I worked it really hard. Once I hit 60 days I stayed on the phone non-stop. I am afraid that harris county apps that dont give it 200% wont see any difference and it will be delayed up to 150 days. That 89 days came with a lot of work. I have just been working with state agencies from a private sector posistion for a long time and I understand how to work the system. Anybody can do it, there were no favors pulled its just knowing how to work the system, how to act, what to say, and who to talk too. Cant give you any tips because I had no personal connection with anyone. I just knew how to get through the maze. Thats all!

Curious.....once you finally get the "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" message, how long before i can expect the license in the mail?

Re: April 2009 Applications
Streaker from what I have seen its probably just a few days my guess is no later than Thursday, probably sooner.
Once its updated it goes into the system and the police will see you have it should they run your DL. I am pretty sure they update right about the same time they mail it.

be careful ..someone on this forum got pulled over after getting his license approved , but before he received it by mail .texas1234 wrote:

the officer gave him heck for not presenting it with his drivers license .he was carrying in his vehicle under the "MPA"
he wasnt even aware that the system had changed to "application Complete"
some people might advise you to not have a firearm in your vehicle during this time frame .
you can read about it here.

USA1 I would agree with you. I wont carry in my vehicle until I have plastic in hand at this point.
Getting pulled over during this time frame could cause a lot of issues if you are carrying without the plastic.

Re: April 2009 Applications
Actually, not really.
That other case was dismissed due to the upcoming law change in september. Which removes all penalities for not showing.
This shows that their legal department is aware of the new law thats coming, and aren't wasting time and money on things involving it.
The law also states that any cases currently under review at the time of the adoption of the new law be dropped.
So if you do get pulled over, and get told that you're going to get suspended. Chances are that they will not persue it.
Even if they did, all you'd have to do is drag it out past September 1st, and it would automatically be dropped.

Basically, it just removes penalties for not showing.texas1234 wrote:So what was the new law, I didnt see or read anything that they were going to change it this session. I guess I missed that one.
You're still required to show your CHL if a LEO asks for Id & you are carrying, however, if you do not, the most they can do is give you a stern talking to.
I'll find a reference for ya. Gimmee a sec.
