I am one step ahead of some of youall, i have submited my renewal, mine does not expire until November, I am now classed as a senior citizen so renewal is 35 bucks.As long as they get mine back before my birthday in November that is all I care.

Re: June 2009 Applications
I know I just mailed in my application only a little over a week ago but this thing needs to hurry up!
I tried to purchase a rifle today and when they called for the BG check they decided to put me on hold for a few days! This has never happened before. I know I have a very common last name round here so I made sure to put my SSN on the 4473 to help with any confusion. Appearently that didnt work.
I guess Im just eager to get my rifle and dont feel like waiting. Either way, once I have that CHL hopefully things will go a little more smoothly next time.

Re: June 2009 Applications
If you purchase any more firearms, and are delayed or denied, in order to keep it from happening again, there is an appeals procedure you can follow to allow NCIS to keep a record on you, that you are a verified eligible citizen to purchase a firearm.RiveraRa wrote: I tried to purchase a rifle today and when they called for the BG check they decided to put me on hold for a few days! Normally, each time NCIS Runs a check on you, it is treated like it is the first, and only gun you have ever bought. After the check, within 24 hours, any and all records of you purchasing that firearm are supposed to be destroyed.
The appeals procedure is detailled here: http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/nics/nicsappeals.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Specifically, I am referring to this part:
If you continue to experience transaction denials or lengthy delays as a result of subsequent firearm background checks, you may be eligible for entry into the NICS Voluntary Appeal File (VAF). For more information pertaining to the VAF, you may contact the NICS Customer Service at 1-877-444-NICS (6427).
IANAL, YMMV, ITEOTWAWKI and all that.

Re: June 2009 Applications
Yeah....makes me a little nervous as well. I think Id rather the wait. As long as I dont get denied (I dont have any reason to)...if I get denied then I will appeal it.
I guess next time I just need to do FTF

Re: June 2009 Applications
I must say, I think it's funny how there's an entire thread dedicated to people who come in here and whine like kids before Christmas, but that's what it feels like, doesn't it? Haha! I thought I was being ridiculous when I was being impatient, but then I found this thread. I guess I kinda fit in.
I submitted mine June 15th, by hand, to the DPS in Austin. That's nice to do because they actually take everything out of the packet right in front of you, look it over, and confirm with you that everything looks acceptable. We'll see how long it takes, though. I heard from a friend that they've hired more people because they're so backed up. I hope that's true, and we can all get our CHL's in a reasonable amount of time!

Re: June 2009 Applications
I had to push the original date for my class back due to work obligations. I would of taken the class on 5-16-09, but I had to work. No worries though. I am just glad to have it done and the paperwork sent.usa1 wrote:maxpower ,you are officially no longer the newbiemaxpower wrote:NeoNyxzus wrote:I just took my CHL class yesterday and I dropped my application into the mail today.
