Clarification, please...... Hwy. 360 and Great Southwest Pkwy, do not intersect....Both run north and south. ;-)
It seems as though Wal-Mart is getting regular shipments on ammo, at least in Tarrant county . I picked up 10 boxes of 9mm Federal at 2 different locations in Arlington/east Ft.Worth. $8.97/bx of 50. Haven't seen that low of a price in a lonnngggggg time. Pretty clean brass, too. And Academy Sports seems have more stock than W.W., but the prices are a tad higher.

Correct... In my excited state from actually finding some affordable range ammo I did indeed put in the incorrect intersection. Good thing there is only one Walmart in Grand Prairie, otherwise I may have sent someone on a wild goose chase. ;-)

Thanks you all. I'm not familiar with that part of town, and I wanted to add it to my list of "places to check for ammo" page, if/when I ever get desperate and have to start foraging for ammo again.

This morning 6/14/09, the Walmart in Sunset Valley (on the south side of Austin just off MoPac) had a few boxes of .223 (Rem 50gr PSP) for $18, one box of .357s, along with some rimfire, shotshell, and ordinary hunting ammo (7mm R Mag, .30/06, .30/30, etc.), and that's about it.

The nearby Academy just off Brodie Lane had quite a bit of steel-case Russian .223, some Monarch .223, a 50-round box of Hornady 55 grain FMJ for $30, the same .223 Rem PSP that Walmart had, (except $3 cheaper), and a couple of Remington 200-round packs of 55 grain FMJ ammo for $100. (It's not that many years ago you could pick up a thousand rounds of name-brand 55 FMJ for $100. :cryin )

I was at the walmart at 121/Ohio last night around 8:00 pm. They had all the boxes out for the overnight restock. I hunted in the sporting goods for the box with "small arms ammunition" printed on it and peeked inside. They got 3 50 packs of blazer .45 and 1 100 pack of WWB .45. They also got some ammo that noone wants (44 mag remington) and some rifle ammo (I didn't look too closely). It was two little shoe box sized boxes and the ammo was loose in the boxes.

I stopped at the new Wal-Mart off Northwest Highway in Garland on my way to work this afternoon. There were three of us there drooling over the ammo on the shelves. I took the 2 boxes of .357 sig WWB. The other two guys took one each 100 round WWB 9mm plus one of them took a Blazer .40S&W. There were still about 5 boxes of the 100 round WWB and a 50 round WWB in .40. Not much else. No.357 Mag or .380.

What Constitution? Didn't you get the O-memo?

After visiting my local Wally World and Academy Sports a couple of times every week and usually coming up short on ammo, I knew my wife was stopping by our usual WW so I half-heartedly asked her to pick me up some 9mm if they (by chance) had any. I didn't expect for her to see any. I get a call on my cell-phone 20 minutes later indicating that she had purchased 600 rounds of WWB. They had six 100-round boxes and she cleaned them out. Good girl!
