I went to CAPS, but I didn't have John or Julia, had the other guy. Wasn't too impressed. although their picture taking & finger print guy did a great job (no rejections). If you can fit it in, maybe try one of the others (or John and not other guy)

I have heard that. I can only speak for John and Julianna though. Schedule with them if you can. It flew by, great converstaion/dialog/info.

It was fun to sit in a room with likeminded people and talk guns. Kind of like a real world version of the forums. :hurry:

I can highly recommend Ross and Dottie Bransford's class. I believe they hold all of their range qualifications at the Lone Star Gun Range in Lockhart. When I took the class, the classroom portion was at a hotel near the intersection of 183 & 71 on the southeast end of Austin, and not too far from the range. They had a fingerprint specialist do the prints during the classroom time, and he did a very good job. Ross mentioned that they had some problems with a prior print specialist, but none since switching to this guy, whose name I've forgotten.

I will say that at the cost of a bit of inconvenience to have prints done separately from the class, it may be time to just offload the printing to one of the digital fingerprint services around town. There's one here in Round Rock that I used for my Utah permit, and it is almost foolproof. The digital camera machine has built-in software that determines if the print is of sufficient quality to capture the image. Unlike inked prints, you can't get one wrong and end up having to roll a completely new card. The cost was only $11.

Took Ross Bransford's class a few years back, probably 2004 (?). Anyway, liked him well enough, and his class, too, although I'm an attorney and wrote a review at that time that he was a little loose with how he characterized Texas law. Things like "it is a defense to prosecution that..." vs. you can't be prosecuted for xyz. Then again this was 5 or 6 years ago. These days he may talk with brighter lines. I did like his conflict resolution and role-played examples.
