hey new guy here, been lurking for a while but just registered and had to vent. took chl class early feb. packet confirmed delivery to dps 2/27/09
pin recieved 3/27/09.
been in processing ever since and waiting patienly or inpatient however u want describe it. well i work offshore and just got an email from wife that fingerprint rejection letter came along with new cards. now i was on day 75 and got fingerprints rejected. is this normal? it will be 2 weeks before i can get home to get them redone, then have to mail them back to austin, then go thru the background phase again with new prints? am i assuming this correctly, so i can add 3-4 more months of waiting? ps im no where close to harris county, but my company headqtrs is in Houston, so on application i had to list this as my job, even though i fly to n.orleans every 2 weeks to catch a helo offshore. i never get close to houston, so will this throw be behind somemore. very frustrated right now, if they are going reject something shouldnt it happen earlier in the process? not until ur 2 plus months out. why does tx make it so difficult to get a chl. im ex leo, so i know i have a good set of prints on file, why cant they just use those. well thanks for letting me vent. look forward to visiting on here when i can.

I Dont really know, I hope they dont ask Harris county to do a backround check on you because if they do I would add another 3 months also. Good luck to you.Texas dosent make it hard to get a CHL, its the Countys that are slow in getting BG checks back to the state is what the problem is. I have a friend that had a problem with his fingerprints because he said he was nervous and his hands kept sweating so he smudged a few of the prints. He had them redone and sent back in to the state and he received his CHL plastic in a total of 86 days even after redoing his prints. He didnt live in Harris county so hopefully once you get back and redo yours it shouldnt take a lot of time, thats if they dont ask harris County for a BG check.

Harris County- Day 90 and counting :waiting:

When my picture got rejected, I emailed DPS and asked if the timeline restarts, or if its just on pause until they get my updated information. They told me "officially" the time starts over, but in practice, its just on hold. I got my plastic 49 days after "processing app" and 83 days after "return receipts," which doesnt include the 6 days "on hold" for the pictures. Don't worry, it'll get there! Williamson Cnty, btw.

Congrats... :cheers2:

It is nice to see so many February applicants getting their license but it looks like I will be one of those hanging on while those around me are enjoying their second amendment right. Harris County really really bites!

Wooo! Hoooo! :woohoo

Well, it finally happened! Look what I found when I logged on this morning. Only 66 days from PIN issuance and 93 days from DPS receipt. Now, I've got to wait for the good ol' USPS to do it's job. :totap: Now, where did I put my holster?

Edit: I'm in Guadalupe County, and a friend of mine here got his a couple days ago, and he was on almost the exact same timetable as me.

Checked today. Status changed to "application complete"
That's 92-days since Austin received my package.
For you folks counting the days, I lived in Fort Bend County and Aransas counties the last 5 years.
I also had to re-submit my prints. I would suggest you go to your county detention center and have your prints done electronically. There was no charge and they were very friendly and helpful.

Aransas County
02-07-09 - CHL Class
02-09-09 - Mailed application
02-11-09 - Application delivered DPS Austin
02-18-09 - DPS check cleared bank
03-12-09 - Requested PIN by email
03-13-09 - Received PIN by mail – Website reports “processing application”
03-19-09 - Received different PIN by email (did not match PIN received by mail – did not work)
03-20-09 - Received DPS letter rejecting finger prints. Letter included outdated info on FAST (Fingerprint Applicant Services of Texas). Website nonexistent.
03-23-09 - Mailed new set of prints (this time prints done electronically at the County Detention Center. (free to residence)
03-24-09 - Prints delivered DPS Austin
03-30-09 - "processing application"
05-14-09 - Day 92 - "application complete"
05-16-09 - Received plastic

Whoo hoo! Finally came up "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" today! :clapping:

Now I can stop obsessively checking the web site each evening, and instead lay in wait for the mailman. :smilelol5:

Apparently having to run background checks in both Williamson and Travis counties (work in one, live in other) didn't slow it down too much. Or at least not much more than everyone else's.
02/01/09 - Completed CHL Class
02/02/09 - Packet dropped in mail to DPS (didn't think to send it with delivery confirmation)
02/20/09 - Check deposited by DPS
03/16/09 - PIN Received
05/14/09 - Application Complete
05/16/09 - Plastic in hand
