Why is it that the more you talk about the law the more screwed up things become?

Hypothetical situation--Neighbor is out of town and asked you to keep an eye on his home. Middle of the night you here a window break next door. Dial 911 and grab 1911 as you are talking with LEO. Inform operator you are armed. Never enter neighbors house but waiting outside in case they leave before LEO arrives. You could be hooked up for this?

Asked my son in law that is LEO same question. He said under state law yes you could. However, most LEO would disarm you, check for BG, get facts and unhook. He also said it would be better if you stayed on your side of property line in case of anti-2A LEO (and there are a few). Still would be hooked up but legally can't arrest. (he also said a signed letter from the neighbor giving you permission to enter his house is a must even if you are not armed)

Could we change this line to... Dial 911 and grab XD Tactical 45 please? Fourteen rounds of 45 just makes me feel better.

Get a letter from the neighbor naming you in control of the premises during his absence.

Shooting match is covered under law to allow open carry...

Both my neighbor and I have pistol ranges in back yard so If I'm open carry on his property (and viceversa) we are "target shooting"...

As for gunstore employees, they're not carrying, they are displaying items for sale in appropriate holsters (hehehehe)

I was under the impression that I had to conceal it if I were in public view, such as in my yard.

Is this in the CHL handbook?

I always carry concealed in the yard, but sometimes I'd rather not have to grab a cover garment when I take out the trash.

If you are carrying pursuant to the authority of your CHL, then it has to be concealed. In your own yard, you're not carrying pursuant to your CHL, so it doesn't have to be concealed.

When the weather is not as hot as today, I often wear my 5.11 vest. I usually come in thru the garage off the alley, and hang up the vest in the coat closet by the front door. I then go out the front door to check the mail.

I have gotten a couple of looks by the lady across the street.

I just flew in from Oklahoma City this morning, and had some chores to do.

As hot as it was today, I just kept my UnderArmour t-shirt on and open carried out there.

No one called the police. It was nice.

I have a FoxFire vest, that I got at H&H Range in OKC a few months ago (I travel around the country a lot). I really like that vest, and use it mostly for flying. Just take it off and send it through the x-ray. No emptying pockets. Put it back on when I reach the other side.

Back to open carry at home: Does it matter that most of the gun was "down my pants" in a CompTac Pro Undercover? I doubt it does, but I don't want to take chances.

I'll be able to wear my Tucker HF1 around the house and the yard when it comes in! WooHoo!
