I dropped the whole packet in the mail (class completion, online app, prints, photos, etc) and checked with the post office to confirm that it was delivered April 24. However, like a lot of you, my online status is still "Packet mailed to applicant". So here I sit with the rest of you.

Different tangent that I asked on another forum; while you're waiting, have you guys already purchased your CHL gear (quality gun belt, holster, etc)? Some of that isn't trivial in cost (upwards of $80-$150 combined), so I wonder whether people who are here get their stuff while they wait or do they wait for the actual plastic before buying their gear?
I'm still waiting on my plastic, but got a decent gun belt and holster last week. I've been carrying around the house, figuring out what works best for concealability, comfort, ease of draw, ect. Welcome to the forum! :tiphat:

Welcome to the forum stsai465!

I personally would not wait. If you already have your gun you want to carry, you can practice around the house and in the car (don't get out with it!) before the plastic arrives. That way you will be more comfortable when the day comes that you can start carrying everywhere.

Also, depending on the holster he wants, it may actually takes a few months to arrive. E.g, one place I looked at had a 3-4 month turnaround time. Ordering a holster now may actually be good timing for it to arrive around the same time as the license.

It's been 3 weeks since I sent in my complete package and today the status on the DPS website changed to "The data you have submitted indicates you may not be eligible for this service. Please verify the data submitted is correct. If you still cannot proceed, please contact DPS at 1-800-224-5744 or email chl@txdps.state.tx.us for more information." I called to check to see if there were any problems that I did not know about. The lady told me that my package hasn't even been processed and it takes 3-6 weeks. She also said alot of the messages online could be errors. Im calling back next week.

Dps received my paperwork and cashed my money order on April 24, but I received an e-mail today stating it would take 6 to 8 weeks before my application showed up in the system. Is this true? 6 to 8 weeks? No wonder it takes 3 to 6 months to get the plastic.

That message pops up when you enter something incorrectly at login. It has nothing to do with your actual status. I did the same thing a few weeks ago when I typed in my PIN with the numbers out of order. My heart stopped for a minute, then I decided to check again...no problems after that. Only thing I'm worried about now is getting to the processing stage. It's been 7 very very very long weeks so far.

That's what I gathered after searching this site. I believe I put the wrong month in for my birthday. I wish the woman I spoke to would have told me it was an error on my part. I hope your status changes soon!

yesterday ,5/07/2009 i got a wild hair and sent an e-mail to dps requesting a PIN. this morning much to my surprise i received a reply including a PIN.
i logged on and got this status..No application or license/certificate active.
i can only assume this means my app. must not be processing or not entered into the system yet.
if anyone has experience with this... i would appreciate any feedback. see sig. line for time frame.

That must be the equivalent to "Packet Mailed to Applicant" that those of that did the application online see :-)
