FWIW, I shot 100 rounds of that Hot Shot 9mm I mentioned above and it worked just fine. Accurate and pretty clean. I also shot 100 rounds of the Monarch steel case 9mm and also had no problems. The Academy on 1604 & Portranco still has some of the Monarch. And they also have some bulk Remington UMC .223 $99 for 200 rounds. Not the best price, but not the worse either. while I din't look for anything else, the shelves did not look quite as empty as they have been, So maybe things are easing up.

I hear ya, those were the good ole days for sure. I'm running seriously low on .45ACP Golden Sabers, I only shoot them to test a new gun and then carry with them, but I only have around 20 rounds left. Oh well, I guess I have to go on a quest...

There ain't anything in Clear Lake. The shelve at Academy is completely bare, same at the Kemah and League City Wally Worlds. The guy at the Kemah wally world told me the last shipment they had was last Sunday, and it was big...more than 60 cases of handgun ammo. He told me it was gone by noon.

Has anyone heard of Maine Cartridge Company ? I have a chance to buy 9mm (50 count, reloads) for $7.00 a box. Now, I have read about problems with some of their ammo and AR-15's (nothing recent, last few years), but cannot find any problems with their handgun ammo.

Any opinions?

Just called Wal-Mart at 1604 and Culebra. Maria says she has "lots" of 9mm. 210-688-3626. I just need 40 and 45, hope this helps someone.

The Wal-Mart in Jacksonville was fully stocked with ammo yesterday afternoon at 4:00pm. Every caliber in Winchester White Box was present. The wall of ammo looked just like it used to, a year ago. I haven't been back today to see if they sold all of it out yet.

I don't know if .223 has been in short supply or not(I don't own anything in that caliber), but Gander Mtn. in Spring has cases 1k rounds for $569 or something like that. I don't know if that's a good price or not, just sending the msg.

.223 seems to be fairly available again around here. Academy had a bunch of the Reminton UMC 200 round bulk packs for $99, and have had plenty of the Monarch brass for $9.99 per 20 for some time. While not the prices they used to be, not that bad, and better than the price you are showing from GM.

I've only been into pistols for a little over 2 years. But this post was 22 months ago. I'm not sure I like all this "change."

My wife just picked up 2 boxes of 9mm CCI Blazer Brass from Walmart on Saturday for about $9 each, so for 2 years later, that's not too bad.
