Re: February Applications
I WON'T LET YOU RAIN ON MY PARADE!!!!!
I just got off the phone with DPS and they told me it is 60 days after receiving your application. Mine was received on Feb 10th, so she said 60 days from there I should check back. She told me mine was still in the "background phase" of the application. I would be spending my wait time at the range............but I can't find ammo!!! $70 for a 100rd box of .380 saturday at the gun show in san antonio......I did find 200rnds of .40 for $72, figured that was a fairly good deal.
Anyway, it at least sounded like they were "working" on my application.......thats good news I suppose.

Re: February Applications
So I've been checking the status of my app every few days since getting my pin...everyday was the same..."Processing Application". Cool.
Today I check it and to my dismay...."Application Incomplete. Sending detail letter".
CRAP! I did everything exactly as told and I have a clean record (never been arrested or involved in anything). So now I'm wondering WHAT was overlooked. They sure didn't care that it was incomplete when they cashed my check last month, LOL!

I hope it's something that simple. I expect to find out either today or tomorrow (I wouldn't expect it to take more than a couple of days to get me the letter).

Re: February Applications
Ugh. Just notified on the website that "Application incomplete - missing information - detailed letter has been sent."
I have no idea what i could be missing. Very frustrating to get this now after a couple weeks of being in the "Application Pending" status.

Re: February Applications
Well, I decided to finally post to give another data point.
Applying from Dallas County; have 2 intermediate addresses in past 5 years in Lubbock County.
Applied Online 02/03/2009
Took CHL Course 02/07/2009
Packet & PIN Arrived 02/17/2009
Mailed Packet (Certified) 02/18/2009
Packet Received by DPS 02/19/2009
Online Status Changed from "Packet Mailed to Applicant" to "Processing Application" 03/13/2009 (Day 22)
Placed Phone call to DPS just for my own peace of mind 03/30/2009 (Day 39) Told that everything looks in order, but my application is still "processing"
So, the waiting game continues...
The only thing that I am worried about, I have a Class C Misdemeanor in Nueces County for a stupid activity during a college spring break trip (It is not supposed to disqualify me though, got caught with a beer when I was 20 years old) I only received a Minor in Possession of Alcohol ticket from a TABC officer, but I thought it would be best to "declare" it on my application. The City of Port Aransas Municipal Court (who the ticket was filed through) changed over computer systems back in 2005 and has lost all record of the original citation and any information related to it (Including that my charges were dismissed through Deferred Adjudication). The Municipal Court can't show that I was given a ticket in the first place, or that my charges were dismissed) I provided my description of the incident along with a certified letter from the court saying that they lost all records for Class C Misdemeanors prior to 2005. It should not disqualify me, but I am worried that it will be an excuse that DPS uses to possibly delay my application even further. Does anyone else have any experience with a situation like this?
Thanks for all of the information and the great forum guys!

Got my letter in the mail today. As it turns out, since I am a naturalized US Citizen (born in Nicaragua) they want a copy of either my naturalization certificate or my US passport. I'm not taking any chances, I'm sending them copies of both.
The other item had to do with my address history. I mailed my app in on 2/09. I only listed my addresses from 6/04 to Present. They wanted my address from 2/04 to 6/04 (I was in an apartment for a few months back in 03 to 04). So I looked up the old address and am mailing them back everything tomorrow. I hope this is it as far as problems go. I'm hoping this means my picture and prints were ok, but we'll see!

Re: February Applications
I redid my pictures and sent them in, I got my return receipt back today. Anyone know how long it takes from a "letter"? is it another 60[ish]days, or was my 60[ish] days paused and just continuing now?

Re: February Applications
from what i have heard and i do not have this on any authority but just from someone who has done chl and renewal.
If you have something wrong , like finger prints or pictures, the clock resets when you send the corrected items back in.
So reset to 60 days

GREAT! LOL! :)
I guess there's no point in dwelling over it (as bad as I want this piece of plastic to come in!). It will get here when it gets here. Perhaps it will be a nice Christmas present from the DPS to me this year, lol!

Re: February Applications
I just spoke with a VERY nice representative at DPS, she said that my CHL timeline should be 60 days from March 13 (the day my online status changed to processing; and not 60 days from when the Application Packet was received. So it looks like I will be looking at around May 12 (Day 60 after processing initiated, Day 82 from actual DPS receipt) I inquired about the difference in dates between application receipt and processing initiation and she said that the 60 days do not start until the application is entered into the system. I didn't want to quibble with her on the phone over the date YET, since she was so nice, but it looks like they are running about 3 weeks behind (To Me).
She did also tell me that everything with my application looked in order (my i's were dotted, t's crossed), but that my local and FBI background checks were out and pending return (there should not be any problem here). So I should get my CHL in under 90 days from sending it off, which all things considered, I can live with, especially if a nice representative would just tell me what is going on and have a cheery attitude on the phone.

Re: February Applications
Ok, I read on a post here that the "counting" begins when DPS enters your app into the system, which is usually indicated by DPS issuing a letter with a PIN number.
My timeline doesn't work with this.
First, I received my renewal package back in sometime before October. For various reasons, I put off getting things rolling. I actually received my PIN number letter October 7. Up until this point, I still have not taken my renewal class. Then, on November 6, I receive another letter with my PIN number again. Still--have not taken the class. Now, we are into the holidays and even more crap to deal with. February 7, I take my renewal class then mail everything off to DPS and they receive it February 10.
So, in my case, I would assume that my 60 day period should start February 10th and not the day a PIN is issued which would be November 6th or October 7th.
Either my plastic is really late, or I should have it by next week......
