The Wal-Mart in Pearland on 35 had a TON of Winchester White Box 9mm 100 round value packs for $19.99 today.

I bought a thousand rounds and there was at least another thousand on the shelf.

The Academy @ 410 and Military Dr in San Antonio was putting out boxes of Win 9mm NATO ammo. It's in a white box with black lettering that reminded me of the old boxes of generic foods. I think the price was around $13 for 50rds.

It just keeps getting tougher and tougher to buy ammo. Sigh. Even if you look online, there's almost nothing available (except for the crappy el-cheapo stuff) at MidwayUSA and CheaperThanDirt. :waiting:

I just went to Gander Mt on 290 and 1960, they had everything but .380 (what I orginally went in for). It's not cheap ammo, but they have it. I bought 1000 rds of Lake City 5.56, a 250 rd mega pack UMC FMJ 45ACP and a few hundred rounds of Golden Bear brass FMJ 9mm. It's getting to where I hesitate to go shooting for anything other than defense (I try to do that at least once a month) because ammo is so hard to find and expen$ive. The days of spending the day on the range with multiple weapons and shooting 1000 rounds are gone, at least for now, :mad5 I sure hope this is a 4 year problem and not longer.

Just got back from the Walmart in Dallas at I-30 and Cockrell Hill. They had about 12000 rounds of White Box 9mm 115 gr. FMJ at $19.97/100. I picked up 2000 rounds. The clerk told me they got it in late yesterday but didn't put it out as they can't sell it after 10:00 p.m. anyway.

The 10000 rounds I left them with probably won't last the day. Other than about 6 boxes of 38 Special 125 gr. JHP, that appears to be all that had been added to their ammo supply.

10pm???? Is that a Walmart policy? I've never heard of that but I guess I've never tried to buy ammo after 10pm.

I saw that too. I was tempted to buy some just to check it out, but I've been spoiled by the Wal-Mart WWB (when you can find it).

I was at the new Walmart at 1604 and Potranco and I spotted a single bulk box of .380 auto (haven't seen any for a while) but they couldn't find the keys to the case. Finally the manager just jimmied open the glass door. It took him all of 5 seconds to do it. Yeah, locking up the ammo will keep people out.

Their sporting goods counter closes at 10pm. If they have shotgun shells on the shelf in an aisle out front, as they sometimes do, you can check them out at the main checkout. But nothing is sold from behind the counter (firearms, ammo in locked case) after 10pm.

If you live in Mansfield and want to spend some money Sports Authority had Winchester .45 230 JHP 50 per Box for 24.95. That is way more than I usually spend for plinking ammo but times are really tough for Ammo. Every Wal-mart I visited this weekend was completely out of .40, .45, and 9mm. The gun show I went to had the same winchester for 26.95 per box so I looked at it like I saved 2.00 a box. They seemed to have plenty on hand.

The Walmart on Forest/635 had 6 (50rd) boxes of Federal Classic in the hard to find 380. $17 and change if I remember correctly. The boxes looked really old and beat up for some reason. I guess I should have bought them but I was in a rush.

Thanx for the info , but just to let you know they had 7 boxes .And yes the boxes look like they had better days
I swear there was at least two left since I didnt turn around them that was next to the others.
Split them with an ol` boy there that walked up right after me that wanted some too, but since I got there first I got 4 he got 3 .
After I got to the truck got to looking at the boxes one of them had a date on it 08/02/1999 , pretty old , but as long as it goes bang when I pull the trigger thats all that matters to me.Now I can take out my LCP and finally shoot it... yeah...

No problem. I know there were a couple of boxes of .25 too.

1999 huh? That is weird. Why would Walmart be selling ammo that is 10 years old? When I first saw those boxes I thought maybe someone had duped Walmart into excepting a return on old or reloaded ammo. Oh well, as long as it goes bang.

How did it look? I have used 10+ year old ammo that I have personally had stored, and other than the brass not being shiny, it was fine. I am just curious as to the condition of something that may have been sitting who knows where for that long. For some reason I've become more 'concerned' about ammo going bad over a long period and have started storing it better. I'm just wondering if I'm being excessive and short of being in a flood, it wil be just fine.
