Any word yet about your POF???

Thanks for remembering! I called POF after Thanksgiving, and they confirmed that my April order was the first in line of five outstanding orders for the same FFL. They were extremely friendly and helpful. Their best estimate at the time was an additional three to five months. I'm thinking March or April...so only a year after the order was placed.

After that wait, I'm fully expecting this guy to be the heirloom EBR of my collection. Pics and range report as soon as possible.

I got an AR10 and bought a buncha the South African surplus that was going for like 69.95 1000 rounds a few years ago,I still got about1400 rounds and its boxer primed so i'm saving my brass ,wideners sells mil-spec 30 calibre bullets for reloading fairly cheap and reloading will save you some bucks in the long run

Yep. I bought some SA surplus last year when I decided to order the rifle (it was already considerably more than what you paid), but in what probably will turn out to be a stupid move I decided to buy no additional ammo or spare mags for a rifle I didn't have, and didn't know exactly when (and I admit a tiny bit of "if": ya never know; companies go out of business) I'd have in my hands.

Heck, I still don't even know if POF will honor the price of the rifle at the time I placed the order, or if it will be the current price when they post the charge (they do that when they contact you with a delivery date, generally about 20 days out). We'll see.

BTW, it's not a .308 so shouldn't be in this Topic, but POF is introducing a new 6.8 SPC toy this year that looks pretty sweet: http://www.pof-usa.com/6-8np3/P-415-14- ... LENGTH.htm. Though I like the idea of the 6.8, not sure I'd ever buy one for my own needs. I'll probably make-do with .223 and .308.

Is it a NO NO to shoot steel cased ammo from an expensive rifle like a SASS type rifle? I have quite a bit of Silver Bear .308 ammo and was wondering how it would do in a super accurate rifle. I am also interested in getting a M14 or SOCOM in the future and was wondering if I would need to buy the high dollar ammo to feed it.

A friend is considering selling his Century cetme .308 rifle. Any feedback on the quality of it and what the current going market price is????

Century are known as the "drunken monkeys" or "angry beavers", so I would check it out thoroughly.

Put a few magazines through it at a range and if it works fine and is a decent price, go for it. If he won't let you shoot it, walk away.

Thanks for the advice. Beginning to wonder why he's selling it? I'd much rather get an AR-10 but can afford it right now!!!

I own a CAI CETME and have not had any issues other than ME not having good trigger control and doing a few double taps off of the recoil alone. My rifle shoots nicely and fit and finish seem to be fair enough. I traded a Beretta CX4 carbine for it and some extras. The steel cased ammo is all I shoot through it with out any issues. The CETME does beat up the shell casing quite a bit, so even with brass cased ammo there will be no chance of reloading them. I understand the fear of the lacquer coated ammo. I have shot lots and lots through my CETME and AK with any problems. I have shot very little through my AR. I have shot lots of polymer coated wolf ammo through my AR and AK without any issues. I prefer the polymer coated ammo of the lacquer for sure. Than monarch blue box is very cheap for target rounds when you can find it though.

Are you shooting brass or steel cased? Or whatever you can afford, LOL. I shoot steel cause I like to shoot A LOT. Its the only way I can afford to shoot as often as I do. I have brass ammo as well, but usually save it for some unknown reason.

So...I have a nice write-up about the rifle from the May, 2009 edition of The Small Arms Review, pages 30-37!

I pulled all the past paperwork and communications last month just to review everything. The actual order via the FFL was faxed to POF on May 14. So eight more days will be my one-year anniversary! I'm not quite sure how to celebrate...

Does any one know how the Polytech m14 reacts to the monarch and wolf ammo? I mean I found it for a really good price under 15 bucks a box. Was thinking of picking it up but a lot of people seem to really dislike it. I have brass but that is my good stuff that is sealed and I don't want to open right now.

Monarch .308 should be selling n the $8-9 range not $15 or so. The wolf is usually a little more, but still not $15. I used to find Federal soft points at Wally World for $14 and that was brass.
