Checked the DPS website this morning, just out of habit actually.. Rather than seeing Application Processing, I saw Application Completed

Now I'll let myself get excited and impatient
:anamatedbanana :anamatedbanana :woohoo

I suspect the plastic should be here in about 3-4 days..

I've figured out how to carry in casual clothes, still need to figure out how to carry with my work uniform though..

I spoke with DPS yesterday and they said they are still waiting to get my background check back from the Travis County office. I asked them to call over there and they said they have no contact info for that office. How is that possible that they have no contact info?

I'm so excited I can barely type, Maryanne just called from DPS, mine has been approved and she offered to send overnight which I gladly accepted! The website still says processing but I don't care, I should have plastic in my hands tomorrow. Walking the dog at o'dark thirty won't be nearly as tense and neither will getting fuel near my job. I can't wait!

Congrats on that. I wish that my senator or rep would actually get back to me. I also am completely baffled how they can tell me that they have no way to contact the travis county office and find out the status of my background check.

Thanks guys, the wait is almost over. And dBex, that does sound strange, seems like they should all be one happy family?

Well I decided to give them a call today. I was initially pleased to be told that they have everything they need in hand including my background check and that they are now just "waiting for a technician to look over the complete application". Great I think, so my next question is when I can expect for it to be sent. "Oh about a month". So there you have it folks even when they have it all in front of them there is apparently no urgency in signing it off and shipping it out. Of course a month may be an exaggerated estimate, but likewise it could well be a optimistic one to. If my circumstances where different and I was not a newcomer to the US I'd be tempted to put a rocket up their behind and call them out on there flagrant disregard for the 60 day statute. Of course I am not there yet, but by the sounds of things I will be well over by the time they tick a box and lick an envelope. It is not about having a complete application on site and then being given the official nod +/- four weeks later :nono:

Is it here yet?

Congrats Tireshred, lucky dog, they over nighted yours  Way up in here in Tx it takes 2 days just to get anything from Dallas, and it's only a 6 hr drive. No idea on how long it takes to get something from Austin, but I'm sure it's several days. Now if they were requesting money, I'm sure it would be here the next day

Dbex, I bet they are telling you that because they dont want to contact them.. Might be one of those things where they wont contact a agency on a back ground check??? Who knows, no rhyme or reason to what they do.

The sweetest thing I've seen in months, hang in there guys, it will happen, and it isn't easy being patient, but the reward is so nice...

I called the DPS earlier to find out the "status" of my application and got the typical "it's still going through the process" answer. I didn't want to push the issue and make the guy mad, because I am sure my application would be moved to the bottom of the pile. I understand that these things take time, and not to sound like I am better than anyone else, but I have a top secret clearance with the Air Force, so one would think that would speed up the process a bit, since I am sure the majority of the wait time is background checks. Show me the plastic please!!! :hurry:
Class Taken 12/20
Packet Sent 12/23
Packet Received 12/29
PIN Received 2/4
Processing Application: 2/6
Application Completed - 3/9 (70 days from receipt)
Plastic Received 3/12!!!

I've had a secret for the last thirty-some years and a TS when I was on active duty, and it didn't make any difference for me, either. The long pole is usually the local background, rather than the FBI check.

I've been on double secret probation, but that didn't seem to hinder the approval process either. "rlol"
