I know what you mean. I got that status on 12/31/08. Turns out my pictures were too dark so I had new pictures taken and signed. The new pictures were received on 1/7 by certified mail in Austin. My status still reads "Application incomplete - missing information - detailed letter has been sent". I called on 1/12 to see if they were sending me another letter since my status had not changed but was told that the website had not been updated. I'm not sure what to think now. Are they still processing? Will I go from Application incomplete to Application complete? Who knows???? :banghead:

I got the exact same message today too...I guess I'll find out when the letter gets here. Blows.

Man, this wait is killing me. I am like a kid on Christmas eve. I keep counting and recounting the days , checking the website...upset that it still says "processing application".

One thing that I think is going to be a slight pain for me is that about 4 years ago, I moved up to Indiance for a job that was about 6 months long. I didnt sell my house here, but lived in corporate housing at 2 locations in Indiana. I am wondering (i listed all the addresses on my app and the times) if my background check will take longer because I lived in 2 different states (essentially 3 places). I am just sooo tired of waiting for something that is my right. I now wish I would have taken the class a few weeks earlier because then I would be a november class and would probably already have my plastic.

Oh when will the "processing application" Gods change my status.......to complete!!!!!

I feel the same way, I carry at home, truck and work but not where it's illegal so I'm constantly taking it off when going into a restaurant or store or whatever. Just last week I left it in the truck to go into Pappasitos and a very unsavory character followed my wife and me to the door, but they just wanted a handout, I thought how messed up that would be to get mugged or worse while waiting on my CHL.

Waiting impatiently...

Be happy. Look at the wait times in Harris County and count your blessings (unless you're in Harris County of course) :cryin

No, I am in tarrant county, which from what I have read from others is relatively quick. Yea, I would go nuts if I was in Harris county.

So, is it 60 days from confirmed receipt (I confirmed they had receipt of my package on 12/10)? or 60 days from when the "started processing" (12/22) started? I have heard it is from receipt of the package, so I get to start my email campaign on 2/10'ish. I just dont want to wait that long.

I was watching the inauguration thinking "where's my gun?".

I almost hate going into businesses "knowing" that my security blanket is in my truck "X" feet away should something happen and it is driving me bonkers. I, of course, wont break the law (even though I think it is a stupid one) and "pack heat" illegally. but when I get photo's from my friends in Arizona walking out of Jack in the Box with their food in one hand and their gun strapped to their hip (and that "look" like they KNOW its getting to me)....I get a tad bit jealous and upset.

the wait is really bearing down. I am sure that once I get the "application complete - certificate issued", I will be hounding the mailman and checking the mailbox 15 times a day....you know, just in case.

My big fear is that I will need it and it will be sitting out in the truck. Of course, I could hope that it goes off by itself and stops the bad guy

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am a new member. Had a CHL back in 1999. Incredibly, let it expire. Went back through class on December 21. Waiting just like y'all. Here's my stats:

1. Completed class December 21, 2008.
2. Mailed completed packet 12.29.08
3. Check cleared 1.9.9
4. Received PIN by email request 1.16.9
5. Checked status 1.20.09 = No application or license/certificate active.

Is that strange or do you think they have not gotten to it yet?

Thank you!

No application or license/certificate active.
Class: 12-21-08
Packet recd: 12-31-08
Processing App status: 1-23-09
BARF: "App incomplete" 2-3-09
Processing App status: 3-20-09
Application Completed: 5-7-09
Plastic in hand: 5-11-09

Just wanted to add something I left out...

1. Completed class December 21, 2008.
2. Mailed completed packet by CRRR 12.29.08
3. Delivered and accepted 12.31.9
3. Check cleared 1.9.9
4. Received PIN by email request 1.16.9
5. Checked status 1.20.09 = No application or license/certificate active.

Looking at others processes, it looks like mine should already read "processing" instead of "no application or license/certificate active".

No?

did you certify mail it to them? Most of the folks that I am seeing sent it some way that they could confirm that it was received by DPS. From what I have read that is when most folks are starting the 60 day clock...the day that DPS received the packet.

Getting ready to go to the DPS site again and receive the dreaded "processing application" again. I shouldnt even look until about the 1-2 week of February since that will be nearing the 60 day mark.

After I sent my post, I reread yours where it said "accepted 12.31.08" and said "d-uh, that meant you sent it certified or express mail or whatever". Yea, I would say it is a little odd that your status hasnt changed since it has been 20+ days. It could just be that they are behind in updating the site though.

No.
1) my online status never changed from "processing request" (or whatever the exact term is). This incldes during the period when I received the letter request and replied. It changed from "processing" to "certificate issued/approved" lingo.

2) Did your picture request note that, if the information requested was recieved, your application would be complete? I think the website updates are...uncertain.
