The BoxO'Truth shows handgun bullets penetrating drywall almost as badly as a rifle. Shotgun buckshot was the only round to penetrate significantly less.
I picked up a great HD shotgun for $140 from a forum member here. I am sure that you can find a similar deal. Plus, practicing with it on the trap is great! I got some funny looks from guys with $3000 O/U guns at the next trap. I guess loading the gun with 7 rounds of birdshot, plus 5 on the stock is frowned upon.
