This was about 2 years ago...

Ok, I know most of you will want to call --- on this one, but let me explain how mine went....

Sent in the application, about 4-5 days later, I called in to make sure it was received. The lady that helped me was VERY friendly and VERY helpful. I thanked her and got off the phone.

A little while later, it occured to me that normally the treatment of a state or fed gov office is usually VERY crappy. This was certainly not my experience with this office. I called back and got the email address of the supervisor of the department. I emailed them telling them what a great service the lady offered and how I really appreciated it. I know they dont get much if ANY positive recognition from the public, so what can this hurt?

Well, the next day, I got an email from the lady that helped me and it said that she really appreciated the compliments and commendation. As such, her words were that "she could'nt help herself, and grabbed my file to move it to the top of the list". I had my permit in a total of about 3.5 weeks, door to door.

No ____ guys.

A little compliments can go a long way.

Well, evidently, with the DPS, flattery will get you somewhere! It never hurts to play nice.

Wife person rec'd her license in yesterday's mail. Right at 60 days total from the date of receipt in Austin. She is not happy with the picture since they had been doing the shooting in a misty rain and been given no chance to purty up. I told her if looked fine to me.

:chldancing This one's for her!

my status still reads processing app. I called last week and was told that my app. was still being reviewed .
Im on about day 160. I sent my application In on December 15 2005.
I Just try not to think about it :headscratch
Ever been arrested or anything? If so, it can take an additional few months. If not, I would seriously call and complain. They had an excuse for mine....tell them how long you have been waiting.
Well today after being away for a couple of days, I got to do some web
surfing. After 163 days I finally got the app completed or licene Issued
cert active message.I had to sign on three different times just to make
sure.
Well Im not sure when it actually changed, but it was within
the last three days.
I had some medical issues but never been arrested, my previous
posts explaines in detail. I guess If that little piece of plastic doesnt
arrive tomorrow, Ill have to wait some extra time due to the holiday.
oh well. :totap:

Their mail room is slow. From the time your message changed until you get a letter can be a week or more BUT your almost there! Congratulations~

Thanks, I gues since Ive waited this long another week or two wont
be so bad, just cause I know whats going on now, as opposed to being in
limbo for 6+ months.

Thing must be speeding up in Austin. I'm entering phase two as of today.

Application Received per USPS Return Receipt - April 5th
PIN Received Today- May 10th (Letter dated May 4th)

35 days and counting. I guess they liked the way I arranged the
paperwork in my packet. I can't think of any other reason that I got
mine so fast and some of the other good folks here have been waiting
a whole lot longer than me.

Hope this bodes well for all of us.
Just checked the web site & guess what?
Application Completed - license issued or certificate active
Should receive plastic next week after Memorial Day. 51 Days & counting.
