I have 2 spares in both vehicles in mag carriers(1911's). I have 1 hicap mag (1911) in each vehicle also. I dont usually carry one on my person but since they are in paddle style carriers I can just slip it on when getting out if needed.

Two in my vehicle, none on my person. If I'm in a situation that will require more than 7 shots to escape from, my goose is probably cooked already, and it's probably a situation I shouldn't have gotten into in the first place.

Personally, I believe that carrying extra ammo encourages some people to do things (or go to places) they would otherwise not do or go to.

I usually carry one spare magazine, more as a backup in case of a magazine malfunction than because I think I will need to fire that many total rounds. I have carried two spares, but that is just not comfortable, so I don't carry two anymore - most of the time.

And for the record, the extra doesn't encourage me to do something that plain old common sense would dictate against anyway. I didn't live to be my current age by being an idiot. I grant my fellow CHLers who choose to carry more ammo than me the respect of assuming they use common sense too, and avoid going where they don't need to be if it is dangerous.

:iagree: I normally carry one reload, regardless of the type or capacity of the firearm. It's an easy fix to a variety of problems.

One spare. Of course, 24 years of active duty military service may have engraved that into my brain. :patriot:

I've seen too many magazine malfunctions to NOT carry a spare.

Same; One or two guns, no mags on my person...depending on the environment I expose myself to...usually very controlled and benign....spare mags and pistols in the vehicle and brief case. I look at handguns as a defensive only weapons. Like the old Texas Ranger said, "if I thought there was going to be trouble, I'd take a rifle." ;-) Not much into foxholes at this age.

For my XD 9SC I carry w/ a ten round mag in the weapon and a 16 round mag in my pocket and one in the car. For my Beretta PX4 Storm a 14 round mag in the weapon and a 14 round in my pocket and the car.

Yes my wife gives me a hard time everytime we go to Chik Fil A on kids night w/ 42 9MM JHPs.

:iagree: My primary is a single-stack 1911. I always have two additional mags on the opposite hip in an IWB carrier from TTGunleather. It's very comfortable for me, and the extra size and weight actually does a nice job of balancing the pistol on the other side. YMMV.
