I got my box today. Oddly, I did not get an e-mail letting me know that a box was on the way; it just arrived.

I'll have to call in the morning and see if it is possible to get mine picked up on a Saturday

I've been considering purchasing an LCP for myself.

1. Is is "safe" to buy one right now? Meaning, any that are available will be post-recall?

2. Anyone know of any current stock or inventory in Houston?

3. Or if anyone here wants to part with theirs.... ;-)

I submitted my info to Ruger the day after carlson1 did, and I haven't heard a thing from them, nor has a box arrived. I guess I'll keep waiting. I'm in no hurry, as I don't carry the LCP. It's kind of a "shelf gun", but still I'd like to get the repair work done so I don't have to think about it any more.

Hi, Steve, I am not familiar with any gun stores in Houston, but the following information on the Ruger site tells you which ones are affected by the recall.
How to determine if your pistol needs the retrofit: All LCP pistols bearing prefix “370” (that is, serial number 370-xxxxx) may be affected. Newly manufactured and retrofitted “370” prefix LCP pistols with the new hammer mechanism installed have been marked with a diamond in the flat portion of the slot just behind and below the hammer as shown to the right. Going forward, new pistols will be marked with the serial number prefix “371” (serial number 371-xxxxx). Pistols with the “371” prefix are not affected.

I hope that will help you out. Good luck.

I emailed them after reading the post on 10/30 and received the shipping boxes on Sat. 12/13. Their letter says a week turn around.

I tried calling them to let them know that the box is ready for pickup, but I kept on getting a busy signal yesterday. Finally I got through to an operator (who was very friendly) who told me they are completely slammed. She suggested I call a different day.

This morning I called and got right through to the recall desk. Anyone who has trouble getting through, I suggest morning rather than afternoon.

Ol Wifey just called to tell me that my box just arrived. Not sure if I'm going to be sending it off right away, or if I should wait until the new year. Any thoughts on this?
