I am the Security Service Manager at Naval Air Station, Kingsville, TX. My trainer is a licensed CHL instructor and has permission from the current station Commanding Officer to conduct classes on the station, on a "not to interfere" basis. The pistol range is listed on the TXDPS list of approved ranges, but the nice folks at Austin will not give us the range number to complete the CHL packet. They are telling us to contact the person that initially had the range approved, but this person is no longer associated with the range as this is a military installation and he has transferred. We do not know how to go about finding the range number, who do I need to talk to, to get the range number for the N.A.S. Kingsville pistol range?
Thanks,
Ron

Re: Who has a list of TXDPS approved ranges by the range number
To my knowledge, there is no list available with range numbers. DPS had a problem with instructors falsifying the TR-100s and putting in range numbers when no proficiency test had been given. That's why they won't release the number.
I would think the CO could write the DPS and tell them the problem and either get the number, or register it again.
Call me tomorrow and I'll check with DPS and see what can be done, short of the letter I mentioned. Send me a PM for my phone number.
Chas.

Just another suggestion. If you have continued problems finding the number, simply have your current instructor "re-register" the range by filling out the range request in his instructors paperwork.

We are considering that, we have a call into the state to see if we can get it through phone / email process. If all else fails, we will reregister the range.
Thanks again,
