My LCP is subject to the recall. Not a big deal for me, because I was thinking of shipping it back anyway due to a feeding problem.

Too bad these pistols were produced with problems in the first place. But--getting past that--I do think Ruger is trying its best to make the recall as painless as possible and I appreciate the effort.

Also looking forward to the finger rest magazine. Maybe it will help this small gun jump less when fired in my largish hands.

has anyone actually heard of an LCP going off because of a drop? I have not.

Ive read a couple stories where 1911's have gone off from a simple drop though.

This recall does not bother me. Ill send it in and get the free mag and fluff n' buff.

There was a story on one of the Forums about an LCP being caught on a chair as the guy stood up and it discharged when it hit the floor of the restaurant. Do not remember now which Forum it was on, but I'll do some research to see if I can find it again.

No, Kel-Tec has their own internal bugs that have, now, been worked-out. When an object is blatantly copied from an original, the copy will usually be an imperfect one; engendering a completely different panorama of problems. The Kel-Tec P-3AT's design flaw hinged on three notorious bugs: (1)the magazine catch, (2) the extractor spring (3) the hole in front of the slide for the recoil spring guide rod.

I can't believe they would not have drop tested the LCP before putting them on the market.

I'm SURE they drop tested it before putting it in production. Typical recall workings are that further testing and/or consumer reported problems shows a very low percentage failure (maybe 1 in 1,000) that was not caught initially, and due to the liability concerns, the company has to make an improvement. Almost never a major design "miss" like they forgot the firing pin block, but rather a slight miss on some parameter, in that occasionally with all the parts at the bad end of the tolerance, on a high humidity day and a dirty gun, and dropped in just the wrong way, the firing pin block is not held in place strongly enough. Just for example. Lots of items end up getting improved that were very unlikely to have ever had a problem anyway. But that's what you've gotta do as a manufacturer... suck it up.

Too bad for Ruger, but does seem like they're doing their best to make it right for customers. Still stinks they didn't catch it before and that you have to lose the use of your gun for a week or 2 (I'd guess).

We have yet to recieve a confirmation email. It's been about a month now. Guess we should check with them to make sure we are on the list. I pretty much figured this would turn into a long drawn out situation.

I've received my conformation email from Ruger. Im not too worried about it. I don't plan on dropping it anytime soon.
